The USA as an (Insurance) Startup by Peter Crowe of Team Focus Insurance Group & 🇺🇸 Nick Lamparelli of Insurance Nerds On July 4th, 1776, a remarkable startup was born. Dubbed the United States of America, this fledgling entity struggled in a world dominated by established powers. Much like any new business venture, the USA had to fight—quite literally—to establish its place. Once it found its footing, the next challenge was determining how to survive and thrive amidst formidable competitors. The parallels between the early USA and a modern startup insurer or managing general agency (MGA) are striking. As soon as you gain some traction, you face an immediate exposure management problem. For the USA, the exposure was not just financial but existential. Surrounded to the North by the British Empire (which they just fought against for several years), to the West by the French Empire, and to the South and Southwest by the Spanish Empire, the USA had to navigate an unstable geopolitical READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE: https://lnkd.in/eeYFvEqP

Changing the way we think about money | Best Selling Author | Podcaster | International Financial Preparedness Advocate | FinTech Advisor

It's easy to compare ourselves to others when it comes to money. How much do we make, what kind of car do we drive, where do we go on vacation. However we don't have the full picture of someone else's financial life. They may be deep in debt or have minimal savings to finance their lifestyle. When I was playing basketball, it was important to focus on my game and not someone else's game. Doing so allowed me to achieve optimal results. Gifting Sense and Karen Holland remind us in this post to focus on ourselves and to have this conversation with our kids. Are you staying focused on your own financial life? Please share in the comments. #financialliteracy #financialliteracyforkids #stayfocused #focus

This is a message that really lands with 10-15-year-olds! (Encouragement to avoid comparing their naturally messy and unpredictable real lives to the "blue-ribbon-days" they see on social media and in advertising.) Karen: "If you had a really frustrating day, didn't do well on a math test and spilled hot sauce on a brand new pair of sneakers, would you post that image on Instagram?" Learners: No... Karen: "Right! And no one else does either!" Relief washes over the entire class. 🔥 Teaching our kids to think before they buy: ✅ Gives them first-hand experience getting & using basic financial information to make their lives better. (Because asking & answering simple questions about typical childhood purchases lets children quickly avoid disappointment, buyer's regret and FOMO.) ✅ It also helps them save time and money...which improves family harmony. ✅ And it helps them protect the planet...which improves everyone's future. ✅ It helps teachers engage students with personal finance content, by illustrating exactly why money-smarts are worth pursuing, even before you are an adult income-earner. ✅ And it helps parents raise children who will never complain "no one ever taught them about money." ⚡ All of which works together to raise young adults who are both interested in, and capable of, gathering and using the more sophisticated financial information they'll need later in life when it is relevant and can be helpful. Such as how to avoid typical financial pitfalls like excessive lifestyle debt. Here's to early financial education and all that it can accomplish. And Thank You Tobi Oluwole for this FANTASTIC image! #GiveMoneySmartz

Tony Steuer, talks with Mark Yegge, Managing Director of Wealth Investors Club. They discussed the importance of time as a valuable asset, emphasized financial education, and advocated for starting investments early for financial independence. The 5 big learning takeaways from this episode are: 1. Time is the most valuable asset when it comes to investing, as starting early and compounding over time can lead to exponential growth. 2. Diversification may not always be the best strategy, as concentrating on certain investments can yield better results than spreading out too thin. 3. Passive income is crucial for financial independence, allowing individuals to enjoy the fruits of their labor without actively working. 4. Managing expenses and avoiding lifestyle creep can significantly impact saving and investing efforts. 5. The Cash Flow Machine system introduced by Mark Yegge aims to generate passive income through stock buying and income investing strategies, similar to owning a rental property for generating income.

Best named Fire of the Week? Anyone who knows me knows my deep love of all things coffee; so I take this week’s fire name winner “Coffeepot” fire in OR very seriously—lost an entire pot of coffee and a fire? That is a total tragedy! Honorable mention to, the “Muders Tank” fire in AZ. The three stooges fan in me has to ask if there will be a "pappa tank" fire and "kiddos tank" fires next. It was a crazy week this week. Strong earthquakes in Texas, Arizona’s dust storms (haboob) with severe thunderstorms and flash flooding…but a dishonorable mention has to go to the “Park” fire cause: flaming ghost rider car into a canyon to start the current mega fire? I did not have that on my 2024 bingo card. Enjoy the weekend, and be careful out there!

YOUR 👏🏼 DIGITAL 👏🏼 TRANSFORMATION 👏🏼IS 👏🏼 ABOUT 👏🏼 PEOPLE 👏🏼 NOT 👏🏼 TECHNOLOGY 👏🏼 And when you forget that you make me feel like I got stood up in rain 😂 Theatrics aside, you will be far more successful with your efforts when you realize that technology is just a tool that enables. You will work twice as hard for a suboptimal rollout if you don't address the people side of change first. I get it... Technology is straightforward. People are nuanced and... well... hard. But avoiding a challenge doesn't make it go away. If anything it makes it worse. Here are my three "bare bones" change management tips to get you headed in the right direction: 🧍🏻🧍🏼♀️🧍🏽♂️People First: Your team is the heart and soul of your organization. Make sure you understand their view on your solution and other potential options, what functionality they need, and where their current skill sets lie. Encourage innovation, open communication, and a learning environment. Help them build digital literacy and make sure that they have a strong why to motivate them to support a change. 🔄 Process Optimization: Streamlining workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and promoting efficiency are essential while you implement new technology. ✨Magic starts to happen when you couple a good process with top-notch functionality. ✨ 👩🏻💻 Technology as an ENABLER: Once your people are empowered and processes are optimized, it's time to Choose the right tools. 📦 If you want more of me on my soap box, stick around and give me a follow!

If your culture is wrong, technology can scale the troublesome issues, worsening your problems. Culture first, technology second.

Think new technology alone will solve your problems? Think again. One common misconception is that simply implementing new technology will magically resolve all issues. In reality, it could actually make things worse if not handled carefully. It's not about the latest gadgets or software—it's about the people who use them. Putting people first leads to a more resilient and adaptable organization. When employees are genuinely engaged and feel part of the process, they are more likely to embrace new technologies and drive meaningful change. How are you prioritizing employee engagement in your technology adoption strategies? #chngemanagement #leadership #insurtech
