How can cities mitigate the impacts of the gas system and accelerate the shift to clean energy? ⤵ Our latest report, in partnership with Groundwork Data, aims to deepen city leaders’ understanding of the interaction between gas distribution systems and local climate objectives. It addresses critical components of the energy system, focusing not only on emissions, but also on the affordability, reliability, health, safety, and equity implications of the gas transition. City leaders can use this research as a guide to understand the key steps needed for an effective transition and how they can use their powers to help their communities move beyond gas. https://lnkd.in/eGrjH8Mp

Excited about the opportunity and humbled by the important work of the Justice Climate Fund. The JCF was seeded and developed as a collaboration of so many organizations to ensure there is alignment between the goals of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund and the economic development needs of communities across the country. We look forward to working with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet not only the goals of the GGRF but also the Administration's #Justice40 goals.
We are thrilled to share that Amir Kirkwood has been appointed as the new CEO of JCF! With more than two decades of invaluable experience in local economic development investment, Amir will lead JCF as it implements its Clean Communities Investment Accelerator (CCIA) program, part of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) program. Guide to Developing High-Performance Leases — Learn to incorporate terms into standard lease language that equitably mandate compliance with increasingly stringent energy and carbon emissions reduction requirements. ✨ 2. High-Performance Clause for a Letter of Intent — To help commercial real estate brokers ensure that both the building owner and tenant are committed to working together to implement carbon emissions reduction strategies. Enjoy coffee, tea, and small bites while you learn how to drive energy savings and emissions reductions strategies at key stages of the tenant leasing cycle. 💰 Free RSVP (July 24, 9 - 10:30 am, online or at the Exchange): https://lnkd.in/ekzwvM4x Learn more about the robust Decarbonizing New York City Offices initiative: https://lnkd.in/eRxPYccE

We're excited to have you on the team, Casius!
Working to accelerate a market shift toward equitable and sustainable action to decarbonize buildings across the U.S.
Excited to share that I recently started a new position at the DC-based Institute for Market Transformation. Since 1996, IMT has been on a mission to drive demand for high-performance buildings nationally, with a renewed commitment to center equity in decarbonization efforts. I'm joining a great team, and with our partners we are rapidly growing a network of community-led energy efficiency hubs across the country. New Orleans is still my home, where happily I remain on the faculty at Tulane University--and with more good news about the architecture and real estate programs there coming soon.

So glad you could be there on our behalf to honor these fantastic sustainability efforts!
Super exciting day here at CEQ celebrating the great work being done by Federal agencies. Today, the #BidenAdministration announced the recipients of the Presidential Federal Sustainability Awards. These projects (and the people behind them) were recognized for #electrifying our fleet of vehicles, advancing #cleanenergy, designing with #climateadaptation and #resilience, building a sustainable #supplychain, and of course—#decarbonizing our Federal buildings, bringing us closer to our net-zero emissions buildings goals. Read about all the award winners! And kudos to Katherine Donohue Papillon Matthew Dowiatt and Kristen Cordell for putting it all together. 🙌🏻 https://lnkd.in/es9MsBQ3

SCOTUS handed down a number of deeply concerning decisions today. When it comes to regulatory authority in particular, overruling Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) will likely affect federal climate actions. We need state and local governments, who are not subject to this decision, to step up their leadership and collaboration with communities. Thanks to Cliff Majersik for this analysis. How are you and your organization feeling about this latest development? What actions are you planning? https://lnkd.in/eh_jrwtJ
