Earlier this month, IIVS vice president for outreach and education Kristie Sullivan was invited to participate in the 51st Annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Toxicology, in a session discussing the regulatory implementation of NAMs across Japan and the United States. Her presentation discussed the current state of the science of available NAMs and explored how to adapt validation practices to provide more flexibility and efficiency, while meeting regulatory needs, by thinking about methods and approaches as "valid for a purpose" rather than "validated" or "not validated". She also had an opportunity to meet with NIHS, JSAAE, CERI, and JACVAM colleagues to continue longstanding collaborations and forge new connections. Many thanks to everyone for kindness, hospitality, and shared scholarship and enthusiasm for 21st-Century Toxicology.
