DeForest McDuff and his co-authors are pleased to share a new book publication: Driving Plato’s Chariot: Lessons on Student Ethical Development. DeForest and co-authors Gary Pavela, Greg Pavela, and Justin Coen report on what they have learned from nearly 20 years of teaching students on the topic of the ethics and academic integrity. Through philosophical writings and academic integrity exercises, Driving Plato’s Chariot conveys the importance of stories, gratitude, trust, self-reflection, and other topics in helping students understand the importance of integrity in their own lives and in the broader society. As one example, Trust as a concept is explored as a cornerstone of market capitalism and the modern economy. DeForest helped to co-found Integrity Seminars in 2006, when he was a graduate student at Princeton. Since then, Integrity Seminars has worked with 45,000 students in seminars designed to teach students principles and application academic integrity via online educational programming. Meet Katie Grace, Expert Affiliate. Katie Grace, Ph.D. is an accomplished expert witness specializing in lost profits, antitrust, damages analysis, and business valuation. She has contributed to over 15 expert reports and has testified over 5 times at depositions and jury trials. With a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship, regulated monopolies, econometrics, public finance, and financial economics, Katie has consulted in various high-stakes cases, including trademark infringement, anti-competitive behavior, and breach of contract suits. Katie has authored numerous works addressing the financial implications of public policy on personal income taxes, Residential Community Associations (RCAs), and public utility companies. She has published several peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy, International Advances in Economic Research, Palmetto Promise Institute, and others. In addition to her consulting work, Katie has made significant contributions to academia. She served as a professor at Wofford College and Furman University, where she taught business, accounting, and finance, covering topics like corporate finance, financial statement analysis, investments, options, and macro- and micro-economics. After a career in investment banking, Katie earned a Ph.D. in quantitative economics from Clemson University.
