University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is helping lead the way as an official Natcast.org Workforce Partner Alliance Awardee of the new National Semiconductor Technology Center’s Workforce Center of Excellence. One of the first recipients of NSTC funding, this effort will boost high-tech job creation and strengthen Illinois' role in the future of semiconductor innovation. #InnovateIllinois #BeyondSilicon 🔹 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will expand its semiconductor training programs, including technician training and its undergraduate minor. 🔹 University of Illinois Chicago will expand its offerings and become a second training site for community college students. 🔹 Illinois Institute of Technology and @csu will pilot new undergrad courses alongside UIUC and UIC. 🔹 Talent will come from our strong network of community colleges (City Colleges of Chicago, Parkland College, Heartland Community College, Harper College, and more). 🔹 Recruiting partners like DPI and the Illinois Community College Board will support program participants. 🔹 Industry leaders like Intel Corporation, IBM, Western Digital, and Samsung Electronics have pledged to co-develop training modules and offer opportunities to students.
