Today Inlyte Energy is excited to announce our $8M Seed funding, led by At One Ventures with support from First Spark Ventures, Valo Ventures, TechEnergy Ventures, Climate Capital, and more! We also wouldn't be here without the support of the Activate Fellowship hosted at Berkeley Lab, as well as key early funding from ARPA-E. We're grateful to our investors for their partnership and we look forward to accomplishing our vision together. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to renewable energy by developing low-cost, reliable grid batteries. With this funding we'll advance the development of our grid batteries made from iron and salt, driving towards large-scale manufacturing using domestic supply chains. Last year, Inlyte acquired Beta Research, a team with 40 years of experience in sodium metal halide batteries and fully-functional testing and manufacturing facilities. Beta Research’s expertise and facilities will enable us to scale-up production as soon as our next-generation design is complete. If you’re interested in joining us, check out our open roles here: https://lnkd.in/gWyPjq8w. To learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZ54zgA9.

For us battery nerds:
Some Friday afternoon fun… Turkey’s badass 51 yo Yusuf Dikec, won Olympic silver in air pistol without all the Terminator-esque wraparound gear. Inlyte is developing Iron Sodium battery modules that are safe, durable, and all-climate, eliminating expensive enclosures and thermal management systems for energy storage projects. (h/t to my son Jonas for the support)

"There are tons of different ways to store energy, we can certainly do it - but the question is, can we do it at an economical level to make wind and solar cost competitive with fossil fuels." The answer is yes! Our founder Antonio Baclig had a great time chatting with the inimitable Matt Myers on Climate Tech Coffee. To hear more: https://lnkd.in/eXh6RRBm.
🔋 Let's talk BATTERIES & GRID STORAGE. 👨🔬 Our latest Climate Tech Coffee episode features the brilliant Antonio Baclig, founder & CEO of Inlyte Energy, whose team is shaking up the energy sector with some novel utility-scale storage solutions that are both wallet-friendly and eco-smart. 🎧 Listen to the episode exclusively on Substack: https://lnkd.in/eXh6RRBm

We're proud to be included in Valo Ventures' impact report, and grateful to have Valo as a supporter! In 2022, California curtailed 2.4 million MWh of solar and wind power because it lacked sufficient storage capacity - we're going to help solve that with our sodium iron batteries. The path to increasing renewable energy like wind and solar is clean, safe, affordable grid storage.
Today, we are keen to share our 2023 Impact Report, which describes Valo's impact framework for startups and showcases the technology solutions that our portfolio companies are developing. https://lnkd.in/gwWdgf3e To set our portfolio in the context of the broader climate tech ecosystem, we categorize our investments across three dimensions of impact that are aligned with the Impact Management Project’s “5 Dimensions of Impact.” As we put forward our impact framework and share the progress our individual companies have made to date, we welcome your thoughts on this important and often difficult task of impact measurement for early-stage startups.
