Michael Guthrie, FAIA, LEED AP, M.Arch ’98, has decades of architectural practice rooted in placemaking, community impact, and design innovation. Guthrie is a co-founder of INFORM studio, located halfway between Detroit and Ann Arbor. Guthrie’s practice is rooted in using the power of design to guide cities toward vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable futures. This eventually led to him championing the transformative potential of pedestrian bridges from mere connectors to vibrant hubs of community life and economic prosperity. Guthrie attributes much of his success to Taubman College, most notably the focus on critical thinking that shaped his design methodology, and the relationships he formed during his time. At INFORM Studio, we leverage advanced desktop 3D printing technologies to streamline the design process and efficiently prototype various design alternatives. Our 3D printing setup includes filament and resin 3D printers, with each offering unique advantages. Filament printers are ideal for producing robust, multi-colored models, while our latest resin printer allows for the creation of highly detailed, precise designs. By strategically utilizing both technologies, we ensure that each project benefits from the most appropriate fabrication method, optimizing innovation and flexibility in our architectural practice. Here is video from a recent resin 3D print for a trellis prototype for a project in Miami (more details coming soon!) #INFORMStudio #DesignforChange #ComputationalDesign #3DPrinting #Architecture #ParametricDesign #DigitalFabrication, #Resin3DPrinting #ArchitecturalDesign #RapidPrototyping #DesignInnovation, #AdditiveManufacturing, #TechInArchitecture, #AdvancedTechnology
