East Cooper Habitat for Humanity in South Carolina received £25,000 from the INEOS Community Fund in 2023 to assist their vital work constructing safe and reliable homes in partnership with local families who are unable to qualify for a conventional mortgage. It was one of several £25,000 allotments made by the fund to commemorate the 25th anniversary of INEOS. The charity was nominated by members of the INEOS Aromatics team in Charleston, South Carolina, who also helped construct one of those new homes. Turning waste into a valuable resource for cement industry: Our site in Merak, Indonesia, generates wastewater treatment sludge and equalization basin waste that needs to be disposed of. Until now, an authorized third party has been collecting and transporting the waste to their facility to be incinerated. The team decided to explore other options, to determine if the waste had a value. It does. They found another third party who will instead turn the waste into raw materials for the cement industry. Diverting the waste from incineration and instead turning it into a valuable resource is in line with the Indonesian government’s green industry agenda – not to mention INEOS’ own commitment to a more sustainable future. cc Oji Fahrurrozi, Ahmad Fadilah, Meidia Pratama, CSRS
