Our Mission *Preparing our students with challenging, flexible education for a fruitful career *Advancing our discipline through innovative research and sound scholarship *Benefit our industrial partners through quality faculty, student, and staff interaction Created in 1946, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is one of the founding departments of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UB. Our world-class faculty work together at the intersection of these areas on research in a variety of domains, ranging from health care, to defense systems, to intelligent transportations, to advanced manufacturing. Joint projects and joint publications are a way of life for us, reflecting real-world problems that do not fit neatly into traditional academic divisions. Our faculty and student research not only ranges across academic disciplines but also challenges traditional notions of problem-solving and generates creative and groundbreaking solutions. Most importantly, our department culture is one of mutual support and respect for all members of the ISE community - undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, faculty, and staff - regardless of background or research interests. We are proud to provide an scholarly home to enthusiastic students and faculty who have come from all over North America and the world. As prospective scholars, research collaborators, industry partners, or alumni, we welcome your interest in UB ISE and hope you take the time to get to know our department, research, and people more closely.
