🌱 Spanish innovators help build a solar-powered greenhouse in Estonia 🌱 🇪🇸 Experts from Onyx Solar Energy – a leading manufacturer of transparent photovoltaic (PV) glass – just travelled over 3765 km from Avila, Spain to visit the Institute of Baltic Studies in Tartu, Estonia 🇪🇪. Together, they visited the #Increase demo site, where a local school will build an innovative greenhouse using Onyx’s coloured #IPV glass. 💡 During the visit, Onyx participated in brainstorming sessions to explore ideas for conceptual design of the greenhouse and assess potential risks. This visit marked a significant step in knowledge exchange and collaboration across Europe, contributing to a more sustainable future. #Sustainability #Innovation #Collaboration #GreenEnergy #SolarGreenhouse #increase #IBS #ONYX

🌞🌿 Hansa School's family day brought together hundreds of people 🌿🌞 At Hansa School's family day, the Institute of Baltic Studies engaged students, teachers, and parents to gather ideas for the design and use of the greenhouse that will be attached to school. 👨👩👧👦 Parents had the opportunity to share their ideas by filling out a survey. Here are some of the most interesting suggestions: 🔸 The greenhouse could be used as an outdoor classroom. 🔸 It could house small animals that students can learn to care for. 🔸 It could host insect or butterfly observation sessions. 🔸 Smart solutions like an automatic irrigation system and climate control could be implemented. 🔸Excess electricity could be used to charge electric scooters or cars. 🎨 Kids had the chance to choose from three different activities: 🔸 Color or draw patterns and colors for the solar panels of the greenhouse. 🔸 Draw what the surroundings of the greenhouse could look like. 🔸 Suggest ways to utilize the excess electricity from the PV production The children's drawings were especially colorful and exciting, providing plenty of ideas to work with moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates on this innovative project! 🌟🌱 #Tartu #HansaSchool #SolarGreenhouse #SustainableFuture #CommunityEngagement #increase #solar

☀ 🌈 A colorful introduction to integrated photovoltaic 🌈 ☀ #Photovoltaic can offer great opportunities to contribute to the aesthetic of a #Building, and innovation can be particularly thrilling when it comes to #IntegratedPV. Our EU-funded project #IncreaseIPV is up and running, with some first results related to... color! Indeed, in the past decade, an increasing share of PV module developments was focused on improving their aesthetic integration into the built environment, especially on roofs and façades, with technologies currently becoming mature for industrialization. Two of the partners of the Increase project, CSEM and EPFL PV-lab, were precursors in this field. * Today we take a look at EPFL’s work within the Increase project, from Neuchâtel, #Switzerland: Reliable characterization of the apparent color of a building-integrated photovoltaic (#BIPV) module is needed along the product chain, from color design to quality control, and long-term stability and degradation assessment of the module after its installation. However, the traditional #colorimetry tools available on the market are not appropriate to the BIPV needs due to the module frontglass tampering with the expected reflectance spectrum of a given underlying color. This is why EPFL PV-Lab is currently developing a prototype to perform color characterization under a broad-area of illumination (BAI) as a way to solve the measurement artifacts seen with traditional tools. The end-goal is to turn this prototype into a product to be adopted by the BIPV stakeholders. So far, our partners at EPFL have selected a miniature UV-VIS spectrometer, a specific standard illuminant, and have designed and assembled an early-stage #prototype for the BAI portable colorimeter which yields good accuracy (CIE Delta E 2000 values around 2-to-3, i.e., around the standard observer threshold) when comparing the perception of glass-covered colored foils and bare ones. * Next steps and upcoming presentation at #EUPVSEC: The next steps will target the key points necessary for on-site uses (i.e., roof, façade) via the integration of a #battery, the creation of a database to store reference values and automatize #dataprocessing, and the real-time correction of the measurements based on a correlation between the light-source temperature and its spectrum. Ultimately, this should result in providing a compact tool able to make accurate measurements regardless of the light-source temperature, and fast data processing to instantaneously display a chosen colorimetry metric (e.g., Delta E value) – ideally via an integrated micro-computer and an associated on-board miniature screen display. ⏰ The prototype is advancing rapidly and an early-stage development version will be presented at the upcoming #EUPVSEC in Vienna on 24 September, which is the largest international Conference for Photovoltaic research, technologies and applications.

Co-Creation in the #Increase project 🚀 🔑 A key part of the Increase project is engaging #stakeholders through co-creation activities like workshops, seminars, and idea competitions. This ensures our solutions meet target group needs and look great too. ✅ To guide this process, we've developed a co-creation model, that explains what co-creation is, why it matters, and provides practical tools for effective #engagement. It is designed to help the teams in the 9 pilot sites to better think through their co-creation activities. 🤝 Practice is essential, so our recent co-creation workshop for teams provided an overview and exercises on how to apply the model's knowledge to create effective strategies for each pilot site. We check in with pilot teams every three months to review progress and plan next steps. Stay tuned for updates on our co-creation activities! 🌟 #CoCreation #Innovation #Sustainability #Collaboration #IncreaseIPV #EUproject #HorizonEurope #BuildingTheFuture Akuo, SunStyle, European Builders Confederation EBC, EPFL, CSEM, VITO, TECNALIA Research & Innovation, BECSA, Spain, CSTB, KU Leuven, Onyx Initiative, SOLTECH NV, Th!nk E, Simetría Grupo, Bouygues Construction, Metabuild, CEI-Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano, EuropeOn - The European Electrical Contractors Association, SolarPower Europe, Euskal Trenbide Sarea - Red Ferroviaria Vasca, Institute of Baltic Studies, Podgorica
