ISP is leading the way as one of the first law enforcement agencies in the country to provide real-time GPS-based traffic information to help prevent Move Over crashes and protect troopers and drivers. Governor JB Pritzker, Google Public Sector, ISP, and Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) announced Waze is now providing notifications about a crash, traffic stop, motorist assist, or debris in the road being handled by ISP. This advanced warning application was created to help protect troopers working the highways. Since 2019, two ISP troopers have been killed, nine seriously injured, and 51 others injured in Move Over crashes. Building on an app millions of people already use, this new notification system will help drivers see in advance the locations where ISP is handling a crash or other traffic activity, warning people to slow down and move over.

Partnerships among all levels of law enforcement - federal, state, and local - are instrumental in getting the most violent offenders off the streets and holding them accountable for their crimes. Ending the cycle of violence takes a coordinated approach where information and resources are shared, and ISP will continue working with the U.S. Marshals Service and all our partners to make communities safer.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested 3,421 violent fugitives, including 216 for homicide, 803 for assault, and 482 for weapons offenses, during the latest phase of its high-impact fugitive apprehension initiative called Operation North Star FY 2024. https://lnkd.in/eVfuh5w7
