    Different times and different circumstances call for different kinds of leaders. However, what remains consistent once people reach the C-suite is that business fundamentals and leadership skills matter the most. There has always been the debate about whether companies should hire younger high pots for key roles or look at the more seasoned folks who have seen it and done it all. One theme that runs across all findings is that in recent years the shift seems to be more towards identifying leaders with “softer“ skills and there is a strong focus on collaboration, leading with empathy and the ability to listen and communicate well. Moreover, every business leader in today’s context needs to be technically savvy. The whole range of C-Suite skills seems to have become more “expansive“. It would however be highly incorrect to state that these skills are lacking in very seasoned and experienced leaders. Far from it, as experience and sheer wisdom gained over the years cannot be written off. Having said this, we do see a visible shift in terms of expectations when we hire for leadership roles. More so when the roles are for businesses ramping up, undergoing transition or when companies look at succession planning. Sharing some interesting insights, and yes one size does not fit all. There will always be diverse viewpoints and the kind of leaders that organisations will hire will depend primarily on their stage of evolution and growth, the nature of their business and the philosophy of their Management and the Board. #Csuite #Csuiteskills #leadershiphiring #executivesearch #softskills #successionplanning #transitionplanning #businessgrowth

    During our Global Meeting, we sat down with Renee Arrington, NACD.DC, Vice Chair, Americas of IIC Partners, and President & COO of Pearson Partners International to discuss various topics including #AI. Renee shared some incredible insights during our time together, and here is the second question we asked: What are technology executives saying about AI? "A lot of folks will say, finally, the theory that's been around since the 40s is real. It's come to pass; it's happened. It's a moment of awe or wonderment or amazement that generative AI is here. Secondly, it's a philosophy that you need to embrace it, like the best defense is a good offense. Learn all you can about AI. It won't take your job, but someone who knows how to leverage the technology effectively might. So, tech executives are inspired and awed by AI and encourage all of us to learn how it can benefit us."
