Happy Fourth of July!🎇 This year, we want to celebrate America's independence while remembering that we have the power to continue advocating for those who can not speak up for themselves.❤️

About us
IGNITE is a movement of young women who are ready and eager to become the next generation of political leaders. Since our inception in 2010, IGNITE has trained 20,000 young women to discover and flex their political power. From a small pilot program in Oakland, California, IGNITE has become the nation's leading organization harnessing political ambition, community building, and leadership skills among young women and girls. Our model moves young women to run and win, and it dramatically increases their political engagement on every level. We also know that programming is not enough: we uplift inspiring voices in our community to celebrate and cultivate young women's ambitions.

As 41 MILLION Gen Zers become eligible to vote this year, IGNITE launched a research initiative to understand their perception of the politics landscape. We asked them about party affiliations, voter engagement, and what values and concerns they had as the upcoming generation. After compiling the data, the results are clear- Gen Z is passionate, motivated, and want more from their representatives and government. They want to be seen and heard, and they need us to give them the space to cross political borders. To read the full report head over to- https://lnkd.in/gF_tQfW7.

Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏾 Even thought the Emancipation Proclamation was officially issued in 1863, it wasn't until June 19, 1865 that the last slaves were liberated in the US and slavery truly ended. And while Juneteenth was only recently declared a federal holiday in 2021, it has been long celebrated and recognized as a key milestone in US history. The significance of this day- the values of freedom and civil rights it stands for- are still an issue for the marginalized groups that need our voices and support to protect their rights 2024. Advocating for those who can't advocate for themselves is part of why we should all be voting this election year. Build the movement for a brighter future and vote for better civil protections this November!

https://lnkd.in/gHk_A-mU Today's unanimous Supreme Court decision, two years after the overturning of Roe. v Wade, upholds access to the abortion pill. It comes as a relief none of us took for granted in today’s climate. The battle for bodily autonomy continues, and we’ll see young people’s voices louder than ever this November.

We're celebrating #PrideMonth by sharing how you can continue building #equalityforall this election year!🌈 💥 VOTE- Almost 30% of Gen Z identify as a part of the LGBTQIA community. The power is in your hands to protect their rights by voting this year! Legislation like the Equality Act outline comprehensive protections against discrimination in areas like employment, housing, public places and more. 💥 AMPLIFY- Pride Month is the perfect opportunity for us to uplift voices from within the community. Whether that's re-posting the stories of public figures, sharing resources that cater to LGBTQIA people and youth, or simply listening to family and friends- you can show your support by holding space for the community to speak. 💥 ADVOCATE- Call your representative. Share education on key legislation for 2024. Whatever the case may be, you can extend your advocacy beyond voting by adding your voice to the many others fighting for equal rights. Learn more about the Equality Act and how you can take action today at https://lnkd.in/gAmyWcb7 ❤️

Operations & Development Associate at CA Common Cause | So Cal Fellow for IGNITE National | Host of Democracy Is Podcast
This past month, I pulled off another successful Student Legislative Action Day! As a former Lobby Corp co-chair, this program is my dream - an opportunity to bring students to Sacramento and give them the chance to speak truth to power & advocate for Democracy issues they care about. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of the Tzedakah Teens! It was an honor to apply for their grant and secure funds not only for this cohort but next year's cohort of students as well. I love having any opportunity to organize, train, and empower young people to fight for the future they deserve! Here's to the next project!
