IAA Families: The generous donations received from all of you has been astounding. We are so grateful to be able to support families in need and provide an example to all the students that kindness matters! The donations you provided are being sent today to Rutherford County, nestled in the foothills of WNC. Towns like Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Forest City, Bostic, Ellenboro, Cliffside, and Union Mills are facing weeks without power, and the need for basic necessities is overwhelming. Our donations, and those received from families of South Mecklenburg High School and the south Charlotte area, are being sent to the Rutherford County School Foundation Backpack Program, which serves over 1,000 children and their families, ensuring essential items are distributed through 16 schools across the county. Additionally, your support extends to Mosaic Rutherford, an organization dedicated to assisting foster children and their families throughout the region. Your contributions are making a significant impact on an entire county. To our student government - thank you for quickly organizing this donation effort so we could quickly collect supplies to send to those in need!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the lives lost and the bravery shown on September 11, 2001. At our school, we teach our students the importance of unity, compassion, and resilience, just as was demonstrated on 9/11 and the months following. Let’s take a moment today to reflect on the strength of our nation and the heroes who emerged from that day. May we always stand together, united in hope and kindness. Never forget.

We have immediate openings in classrooms (Charlotte, NC) working with students who are in need of a self-contained special education environment. We have elementary and secondary positions available – all due to growth (not turnover!). •            The ratio in our classrooms are 4-7 students to one teacher. (Within our classrooms with the greatest needs, there is also an SLP and/or Teacher Assistant present bringing down the ratio to 2:1 or 3:1!) •            Our school only serves students with special needs so you would be working among colleagues who share the same passion as you do. •            We believe in fully stocking classrooms. We have a huge room filled with resources to support the curriculum in place, create centers and activities within the classes, etc. However, when a teacher requests an item – be it a bean bag chair for flexible seating or an academic item – it is almost always approved. We do not want teachers to fund classrooms from their own pockets. •            We don’t believe in ‘red tape’. When it is best to make a change for a child, we do so. As the owner and founder, I previously served as a public school teacher, principal, and superintendent before opening private schools, and I know we can better serve students when we cut through the red tape! •            The school culture you will find here is almost certainly unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.
