This week we’re recognizing #IEEE Senior Member Walter Scheirer, affiliated with IEEE Computer Society and IEEESPS Society for his research on the problem of recognition, including the representations and algorithms that support solutions to it, which can be applied to AI technologies. Scheirer’s research interests center around features and learning-based methods that apply to both vision and language. His approaches can be applied to a wide range of applications including computer vision, machine learning, human biometrics and the digital humanities. And, his unique perspective as a computer scientist has enabled him to provide insightful cultural commentary analyzing the social context of emerging technologies.
