About us
The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) empowers and equips the global community to protect children from abduction, sexual abuse, and exploitation. Through high quality research, advocacy, education, and technical assistance, the International Centre addresses the need for cutting-edge solutions to these problems. Since its inception, ICMEC has trained over 16,000 law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and specialists around the world on how to handle child protection cases; helped 19 countries develop Rapid Emergency Child Alert Systems similar to AMBER Alert in the U.S; created a Global Missing Children's center comprised of 30 member countries on 5 continents; created a Global Health Coalition of 33 members, including 4 of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world; and, since our Child Sexual Abuse Material: Model Legislation & Global Review was released in 2006, 150 countries have refined or implemented new anti-CSAM laws. Please join us in the fight to protect children around the world. Together, we can create a world worthy of its children. For more information, please visit www.icmec.org. Children make up a big part of trafficking victims worldwide. Identifying and protecting them is difficult due to underreporting and lack of resources. We need better systems tailored to their needs to support victims and hold traffickers accountable. #EndHumanTrafficking

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 🌍 ICMPD emphasises the importance of cooperative frameworks that promote cross-border and multi-agency collaboration to combat the trafficking of human beings (THB) and ensure victim protection. Migrants on the move and those seeking refuge, including women and children, are particularly vulnerable to criminal syndicates and human traffickers. 📌 An efficient anti-trafficking response requires evidence-based knowledge and systematic ongoing monitoring and evaluation. 📌 Research, data collection and analysis are crucial to fostering situational awareness, understanding trends, and addressing knowledge gaps and implementation challenges. For over 20 years, ICMPD has provided expertise to combat THB by guiding stakeholders toward coordinated national and regional actions in policy and legislation, capacity building, victim protection, and gathering and analysing trafficking-related data. As part of our ongoing initiatives, we recently published: 📚 The HEROES Manual for Early Identification of Potential Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings (THB), Child Sexual Abuse and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSA/E): - The Manual is a practical tool for early identification of potential victims of trafficking in human beings (THB) and child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSA/E). - Designed for frontline responders to identify potential and actual victims of THB and/or CSA/E and refer them to relevant support services. - Includes tailored, sector-specific indicators for identifying potential THB and CSA/E victims in four selected countries: Bangladesh, Colombia, Spain, and the UK. 🔗 Download the manual at: https://lnkd.in/du8P2cKF 🔗 Discover more about the manual at: https://lnkd.in/dzTQF7yy 🔗 Explore the HEROES project work and activities at: https://heroes-fct.eu/ #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons #Migration #THB #EndHumanTraffficking #HumanTraffficking #LeaveNoChildBehind #Bangladesh #Colombia #Spain #UK Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) Fundación Renacer International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children Trilateral Research Centre for Women and Children Studies (CWCS) ICMPD_THB ICMPD Policy & Research HEROES Project

🇪🇺 HEROES has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement No 101021801.
HEROES Second Pilots – LEAs Execution in Madrid, Spain! 🚀 From July 8 to 10, 2024, the second Pilots of the HEROES project took place at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. This event brought together the consortium’s LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies) to present use cases and train in the use of innovative tools developed by our consortium partners. During the pilots, various technological tools were presented and tested, focusing on the prevention and investigation of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation and Human Trafficking crimes. These tools range from mobile applications for grooming detection and citizen reporting to advanced forensic analysis tools. Additionally, we had the valuable participation of five LEAs external to the project, who contributed their perspective and experience: 🔹 Romanian Police 🔹 Portuguese Judicial Police 🔹 Bavarian Police 🔹 Madrid Municipal Police 🔹 ESMIR Forensic Informatics Unit The participants received training in using the tools and were able to evaluate and provide feedback, contributing to the development and refinement of these tools. We would like to thank our consortium partners for their dedication and effort. Your active collaboration is essential to the success of our project. Well done, HEROES team! 👏 Together, we will continue to advance towards achieving the project's goals. See you at the next event! 🌍🔍💼 Follow us on all our social media channels to stay updated on the project's progress. 🔹 Instagram: https://lnkd.in/d5522t3D 🔹 Facebook: https://lnkd.in/dMQ3GmvV 🔹 Twitter: https://lnkd.in/dEbpPYZY 🔹 LinkedIn: https://lnkd.in/djkhCrST Join us, let's make the world a safer place for children. 💙💚 European Commission #HEROESFCT #H2020 #HEROES4All #PilotII #Prevention #Investigation #VictimAssistance #ChildProtection

. #Parentalidade #ParentalidadePositiva #ParentalidadeDigital #DigitalParenting #MiudosSegurosNaNet #SegurançaOnline #SegurançaNaNet #InternetSegura #BemEstarDigital #AgarradosaNet #DigitalWellbeing #Ecrãs #Telas #Screens #SemanaDoBemEstarDigital #SemanaDoBemEstarDigital2024 #DigitalWellbeingWeek #DigitalWellbeingWeek2024 #BestOf
