Over the past two weeks, Business Manager Jeff Wheeler led the Orientation to the IBEW presentation at the Electrical Training Institute to welcome four new classes of apprentices into Local 481. It's an incredible time to join the IBEW and we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome these new apprentices into the brotherhood!

**Project Spotlight - Carrier** As summer temperatures soar, many residents in Central Indiana and nationwide turn to reliable air conditioning to keep them cool. Many of the HVAC units that provide this relief are built by Carrier, a world leader in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration solutions. With 51 factories worldwide and 39 research and design centers, Carrier’s Indianapolis plant stands out as one of the largest gas furnace facilities in the world at nearly 550,000 square feet. The skilled electricians of IBEW Local 481 are at the heart of maintaining the electrical infrastructure of this Carrier Indianapolis Manufacturing plant and Engineering Center. Our professionals’ commitment to maintaining existing systems and powering new additions is key in ensuring that Carrier continues to deliver top-notch HVAC units to homes and businesses worldwide. NECA Signatory Contractor ATEC, INC. (Advanced Technologies in Electrical and Communications, Inc.) was awarded the electrical contract for this project and will also be responsible for installing a new substation for Carrier’s Research and Development Center in 2025. Selecting ATEC for this substantial additional project underscores Carrier’s confidence in ATEC’s capabilities and satisfaction with their contributions. We are proud of our members’ hard work at the Carrier plant, which ensures it operates smoothly and efficiently. Their work helps cool and warm our communities, making every hot summer day a little more bearable and every cold winter night a bit more comfortable. Electrical Contractor: ATEC Project Foreman: Todd Catron
