How does non-restorative sleep affect your mental health? @SleepDocShelby details the long term poor quality sleep can set you up for a mood issue. She encourages people with hypersomnia to address their sleep issues and manage their symptoms as they are seeking support for their mood issues. Addressing mood issues won’t resolve the sleep issues. #hypersomniaawareness #cbt #sleepdocshelby #sleep #sleephealth

Here is a simple tool to help manage your daily medication intake. As Haley (@thesleepy_ot) says — IH brain fog and forgetfulness is very common. The amount of times I have found myself thinking so hard about whether I took my meds already is honestly too many times to count. Using a pill organizer gives me a physical reminder, per day, if I did in fact take them or not! It can be especially beneficial so you 1. Don’t skip a dose unintentionally and 2. So you don’t accidentally double a dose in a short timeframe (which can potentially even be dangerous) Taking a few minutes to re-supply your pill organizer each week ALSO serves as a reminder when you’re starting to get low on your prescription, reminding you to call your doctor for a refill and avoiding missed doses when you’re all out. Thanks for the helpful tip, Haley! #ThisIsIH #forthesleepyones #hypersomniaawareness #idiopathichypersomnia #sleepdisorder #FakeAwake
