Can you find it? This is an example of just how hard it is for an adversary to spot our M-Class Kelp Smart Buoy platform. Deployable from standard sonobuoy launchers, this KSB variant floats vertically, with the top of the hull flush against the surface. This provides customers with a widely deployable, covert platform for their payloads. In this configuration, only a satcom antenna and sensor mast are visible above the surface (left and down of center). Our sonobuoy form factor M-Class KSB units have seen a lot of action lately. We deployed this one in the open ocean off Laguna Beach, CA, to test two payloads simultaneously: a GPS-based tsunami sensor for the National Science Foundation (NSF) and an acoustic sensor suite for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). The ability to rideshare disparate sensing and intelligence payloads is new to the buoy world, but we're making sure it’s here to stay. #ocean #bluetech
