Sam Altman gave these dropouts millions to reinvent the credit card. Nikolas Ioannou and Marc Baghadjian have crazier stories than most young entrepreneurs. Niko is a high-school dropout who sold his healthcare startup to multi-billion dollar Galileo at age 17. As for Marc, he cold-emailed ex-CEO of Apple John Sculley from his dorm room at Babson College, landing millions for his social network idea. Now the duo have teamed up on their new fintech startup: Hypercard. With $15M in funding led by Sam Altman and a special designation as an American Express Network card, Hypercard aims to reinvent consumer credit. The vision more specifically? Create the first credit card backed by employers. So let’s say you’re an employee at Lyft… Hypercard will provide you a metal Lyft American Express Network card for free and you’ll use it just like any other card to pay for stuff. The kicker however, is that all the perks are paid for by your company. These include Amex Network goodies like lounge access and a dining concierge plus discounts from Hypercard's partners and all the benefits your company already offers. The founders are also banking on a disruptive reimbursement feature. When you pay for something with your Hypercard that is expensable, you can get a one-click reimbursement from your company. This means no more waiting for accounting to process PDF invoices and receipt photos to pay you back for corporate expenses. Things are changing so fast. Could credit cards one day be like health insurance plans, where it becomes standard to get them through your employer? #fintech #entrepreneurship #startups

Nikolas Ioannou and I were invited to take the stage at Fintech Meetup regarding the "Future of Cards" on Sunday at 3:30pm. Come meet us there! The other speakers include folks like the CEO of Mastercard, CEO of Plaid, and the many more. Sanjib Kalita crushed it this year!

Yesterday, in crazy startup fashion, we were unexpectedly pulled out of stealth when we were awarded both Forbes 30 Under 30 Finance and Forbes 30 Under 30 Youngest for our company, Hypercard! We will be launching consumer credit cards on the American Express® network to company employees; housing their company perks, company-funded stipends, and integrating expense management. A more formal announcement will come soon to expand on our funding, our network collaboration with American Express®, and our soon-to-be-announced issuing bank! Special thank you to my internal partners, Nikolas Ioannou, Bhavik Patel, Rushil Nagarsheth, Bedros Balabanian, Alejandro Cuffia and to our external champions for believing in us: Forbes, Kalpesh Kapadia, Rajan Annadurai, Anthony Peculic, Cally Sumpio, and William Stredwick.
