We have THE BEST pharmacists at Hy-Vee — and they've got the awards to prove it! Two of our pharmacy managers recently were named national Immunization Champions by the CDC and Association of Immunization Managers for their work to keep their patients and communities healthy. Congratulations to Heather Vande Kieft from the Sioux Center, Iowa, Hy-Vee and Kristin Brummel from the Lee’s Summit West, Missouri, Hy-Vee for their outstanding efforts! #PharmacyWeek

Congratulations to the Hy-Vee Disaster Relief team and all our employee volunteers who were honored recently with the 2024 Humanitarian Logistics Award in the Employee Engagement category from the American Logistics Aid Network. This award honors organizations for their ongoing commitment to helping others in times of need. Hy-Vee has partnered with Dementia Friendly Iowa on a new awareness program for those living with dementia-related diseases. To help make our stores more welcoming, new signage was created that identifies customers with dementia who are shopping and is now available at select stores in Iowa. In addition, store staff was provided with training from Dementia Friendly Iowa to help educate about how they can make the shopping experience easier for people living with the disease, as well as their caregivers and family. The hope is to launch the program in additional stores in the coming months.

In the wake of Hurricane Milton, our hearts go out to all those who have lost so much. Milton is the third hurricane to hit Florida this year, following closely after Helene. It has left more than 3 million people without power, dropping over a foot of rain and spawning numerous tornadoes. Red Cross disaster teams remain on the ground in Florida, working closely with local officials and partners to understand exactly what people require and where Red Cross assistance is needed most. This is an immensely difficult time for communities across the Southeast, especially for Floridians. If you would like to help people affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene, here are three things you can do right now. ⬇️ #Milton #Helene

October is National Women’s Small Business Month which recognizes and supports women-owned businesses and what they mean to their community. In addition to helping drive economic growth, small businesses are more likely to support local organizations, schools and projects as well as providing jobs to help communities grow. Since 2022, Hy-Vee is proud to be a supporter of local, women-owned small businesses through our OpportUNITY Inclusive Business Summits which offers resources and learning opportunities for entrepreneurs. We remain committed to promoting the talents of these women to create growing and prosperous opportunities that advance their presence in our communities.

National Family Meals Month may have come to an end but enjoying meals as a family never stops. Studies show that families who spend mealtime together improve communication and nutrition, and strengthen family relationships — no matter how you define family. Thank you to our great partner, Sheletta Brundidge, for producing our video series featuring families discussing the importance of mealtimes together. Our final video features Estrella who talks about how life moves so fast, the need to slow down, catch up and have a great healthy, homecooked meal.
