AIRTEVRON (HX) TWO ONE is the USN and USMC rotary-wing and tilt-rotor developmental flight test and evaluation squadron.
About us
The mission of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two One (HX-21) is to execute developmental flight test and evaluation of rotary-wing and tilt-rotor aircraft, and their associated airborne systems, in support of all United States Navy and United States Marine Corps training, combat, and combat support missions. The goal of HX-21 is to provide the highest quality evaluation and reporting in support of the aircraft program managers and the Fleet warfighters. HX-21 also maintains and grows partnerships with international test organizations and Allied forces, providing flight test services and technical expertise which will grow the capabilities of our Foreign Partners. Exemplifying the Navy and Marine Corps' ethos, the pride and professionalism inherent in everything HX-21 does has established it as the "World's Greatest Test Squadron."

Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two One (HX-21) MH-60R/S Project Officer Lt. Bryan "T-Ball" Wills tests a prototype vibration attenuating seat that was designed to reduce how much vibrational energy is absorbed by pilots. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division’s Human Systems Engineering Department and NAVAIR’s Aircrew Systems program office (PMA-202) are currently conducting fit and equipment checks with HX-21 artisans and crew over the next couple of weeks at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. The data will be used to compare the in-seat vibration isolation system’s performance with the baseline seat. Designed and developed by InnoVital Systems using Small Business Innovation Research funds, the technology is expected to reduce fatigue and improve pilot endurance. Mr. Pat Collins and Mr. Gerik Landis were both recently awarded the Civilian Service Achievement Medal (CSAM) for their immense contributions and efforts while working with the H-60 Test Team. Specifically, they were recognized for their incredible work and success while tasked with the test and development of the Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection (DMAD) advanced mission subsystem for the MH-60R Seahawk multi-mission helicopter. Around the Command | Yesterday, a CH-53K King Stallion operated by @MarineOperationalTestandEvaluationSquadronOne(VMX-1) transported an F-35C Lightning II from #NAWCAD Patuxent River to its site at Lakehurst. The inoperable aircraft arrived to our Prototype, Manufacturing and Test Department for use in future tests of emergency recovery systems. #BravoZulu to the many partners who played a role in the success of the mission! A special shout out to our own including @VX-20, @VX-23, and our Cargo Lab.
