🏆 BIG NEWS! Today, Fast Company named Husk Power one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World, alongside leading global brands like NVIDIA and YouTube. Even more mind-blowing -- we were ranked #1 in the energy category, and #24 overall. #FCMostInnovative This recognition is testament to the passion and dedication of the entire Husk team of more than 600 people, who made this honor possible. The journey would also not have been possible without the long-standing support of our investors, shareholders and partners, whose support has been critical in our success over the past 15 years. Husk's innovative business model for community solar minigrids, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), is laying the foundation for prosperity in rural and peri-urban Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, regions that have long been unserved and underserved. These communities are the most climate vulnerable in the world, and Husk is proof that minigrids not only offer a green path to economic development, but also a path to climate resilience. Our CEO Manoj Sinha commented: "Community solar minigrids powered by artificial intelligence (AI) are key to ending energy poverty for hundreds of millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia and unlocking the potential of an entire generation, especially women and youth. TIME100 Climate | Co-Founder & CEO at Husk | Independent Board Member l Angel investor

In 2014, I had to let go of 200 people in 6 months. Today, we've created 1000 jobs across two continents (Asia and Africa) and are adding ~50 new rural jobs monthly. Looking back, I'm reminded that entrepreneurship is rarely a straight path. It's a series of ups and downs, triumphs and challenges that test your resolve and shape your vision. That low point of my career (actually the lowest point so far) in 2014-2015 still feels raw. When I took over the role of CEO at Husk Power Systems, the business required a total rethink. Our business model wasn't working, and we were hemorrhaging $100,000 a month. As an entrepreneur, we mostly imagine the positives of hiring and adding new people. The decision to let go of about 200 people in less than 6 months was gut-wrenching. How do you make such a call? And how do you execute it without an HR department? It was a test of leadership I hadn't anticipated. Nobody taught me or coached me to do this when I went to business school. We had to be transparent, compassionate, and decisive all at once. We provided as much support as we could, including recommendations and networking. It was painful, but necessary for our survival. That crisis became the catalyst for our resurgence. We pivoted, we learned, we grew stronger. It was literally to have 'risen from ashes'. Fast forward to today, and I'm proud to say we've created over 1,000 jobs since 2018 - a 10X growth. But it's not just about the numbers. It's about where and how we're creating these jobs. Roughly 900 of these positions are in some of the most economically challenged rural areas of India and Nigeria. We're bringing high-tech opportunities to regions where farming has been the primary occupation for generations. Our energy infrastructure investments are creating a 5X multiplier effect on local GDP in these communities. Every time I visit one of our sites and see a local technician confidently operating our systems, I'm reminded of why we do this. We're not just providing power; we're powering dreams, ambitions, and economic transformation. Looking ahead, I see Husk Power Systems playing a crucial role in India's "Make in India" strategy and Nigeria's green energy future. We're creating high-quality, green jobs in rural areas, bridging the urban-rural divide in ways I couldn't even dream of when we started. The journey hasn't been easy. There have been sleepless nights, strained personal relationships, tough decisions, and moments of doubt. But there have also been breakthroughs, celebrations, and the immense satisfaction of seeing our vision materialize. To my fellow entrepreneurs: embrace the challenges. They're not just obstacles; they're opportunities to innovate, to pivot, to become stronger. And remember, your impact goes beyond balance sheets. You're changing lives, one job, one community at a time.
