    I had a blast hosting Hunt Club inaugural Art of Investing series last night, which featured a conversation with the magnetic Ann Berry at New York Vintners, a members-only wine club in Tribeca. New York Vintners doubles as a working art studio - having the artist himself, Leopoldo Gout, onsite to share his space and his latest pieces with us was the cherry on top of a beautiful evening.  Ann is a force and her insight into all things macroeconomics, market volatility, and what she’s personally excited about right now sparked a fun, engaging discussion. Here’s what we took away: The market is chaotic, with few really knowing which way is up or down. Interest rates? Likely not dropping. AI, while seemingly everywhere, is still in its own bubble, leaving venture in a challenging spot. The result? An increased focus on PE. Ann’s predication is that Microsoft, Meta, and Google  will be the ones to own AI — and do it well. Given the current market volatility, it’s back to basics. This means increased focus from leadership teams to ensure they have the right fundamentals and the right talent. With slower deal flow, there’s a strong emphasis on portfolio success and ensuring operators have the tools (and teams) to succeed. What is she excited about? Women’s sports. Namely Unrivaled Sports, a new women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. With a strong focus on pay equity, the league will offer players the chance to stay stateside during the offseason. The University of Connecticut grad in me loves to see this (coach Geno Auriemma is also an investor). Appreciate all who joined - and for my fellow art lovers, where should we host our next event?!

    According to the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report from Microsoft and LinkedIn, the search for technical AI talent has surged 323% in the past eight years. This goes hand in hand with 66% of leaders saying they wouldn’t hire someone without AI skills today. Despite fears surrounding this new tech, it’s clear AI itself won’t outright replace people. But people who know AI will. The demand for AI talent is skyrocketing, but hiring managers are finding it tough to find top AI leaders and keep up with the growing list of challenges they’re up against:   - Competition’s fierce, with demand for uniquely qualified talent far outweighing supply. - Generalist recruiters don’t know what to look for in this complex field. - Traditional recruiting — still relying on old rolodexes and cold calling — simply can’t deliver the right tech hires.
