Today marks the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics! This week, we were grateful to invite Ben Hunt-Davis MBE, former UK Rowing team member and Olympian gold medalist, to speak to our team. Ben shared the inspiring story of how the British Rowing team perfected their craft to result in becoming gold medalists in the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. Ben’s mantra and message for our team was, “Will it make the boat go faster?” He shared with us that much like his rowing team, our team can make our boat, our company, go faster by focusing on performance to achieve results, building confidence and belief, controlling the controllables, and working with others toward our common goal. Thank you, Ben, for inspiring our team to continue making our boat go faster. Onward!

Office tenants in San Diego’s Mission Valley have become aware of significant changes to the landscape of the market in recent years, though one thing remains the same—high office asking rates and vacant buildings. In Hughes Marino vice president, Kevin Beaumonte’s latest analysis on the Mission Valley office market, he brings to light the tactics landlords are using on the brokerage community, hiding lease agreements and rental rates from the public, and acting as dual agents. These and other factors work against tenants, keeping the rents high. Learn more about the Mission Valley market, and how office tenants can capitalize on the abundant opportunities this submarket has to offer.

While this may not necessarily mean lower rents, it can mean creative incentives, healthy tenant improvement allowances and more flexible terms for tenants.
