This week, let’s tap into the energy of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to make Monday a little brighter for someone. Here are some easy ways to spread some good vibes: 📣 Shout-Out Someone Awesome. If you know a fellow team member who’s been killing it, give them a shout-out! 👏🏾 A quick note or a mention in a meeting can really make their day. 🔖 Sharing is Caring. If your ERG has some resources or articles that can help others, pass them along! 📚 Sharing knowledge is a great way to lift everyone and show that we’re in this together. 👭🏾 Host a Chill Coffee Chat. Why not organize a casual coffee break with your ERG? ☕ Invite some leaders to join in, too. It’s a great way to connect, share ideas, and build community. Let’s make this Monday a great start to the week! What are your plans to uplift someone today? Drop your ideas below! 👇🏾 . . . #EmployeeResourceGroups #Leadership #MondayMotivation #Community #Support

The significance of Employee Resource Groups cannot be overstated. They serve as a vital lifeline for team members seeking connection, exploration, and community. ERGs provide a safe space for employees to share experiences, celebrate diverse backgrounds, and foster inclusion. They empower individuals to connect not just with colleagues but with a broader network of support, understanding, and shared purpose. However, leadership is responsible for nurturing these groups. Leaders must actively support ERGs, provide resources, and encourage participation. By doing so, they not only promote a culture of inclusivity but also demonstrate their commitment to valuing every voice within the organization. ERGs are not just a nice-to-have but necessary for cultivating an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and heard. ERGs' power lies in driving engagement, enhancing collaboration, and building a workplace that thrives on diversity.

Leadership begins with self-awareness. Before we can guide others, we must understand ourselves - our strengths, areas for growth, and how we show up in the world. Self-awareness is the cornerstone of self-development, and both are essential for leading with intention and impact. Being attuned to our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors opens the door to continuous improvement. Self-development isn’t about perfection - it’s about progress. It’s about identifying blind spots, welcoming constructive feedback, and being open to learning and evolving. The most effective leaders prioritize their development because they know it shapes their ability to lead authentically and inspire others. A commitment to self-awareness allows us to navigate complex situations with empathy, clarity, and purpose. As we move through our leadership journeys, we have to continually ask ourselves: How am I investing in my growth? How am I fostering self-awareness in my daily leadership practice? The more we understand ourselves, the better we can lead and develop those around us. Happy Friday!

🌟 Celebrate the Power of Encouragement 🌟

As leaders, we have a unique opportunity to uplift, inspire, and encourage those around us. Today, I’m challenging myself to take a moment to recognize someone who has shown up in a meaningful way. Whether it be their presence, their effort, their engagement - however they could, the best way they could. It doesn’t have to be grand gestures. A simple “thank you,” a shoutout in a meeting, or a personalized note can make a world of difference. These small acts of recognition not only boost morale but also cultivate a culture of appreciation and positivity. Be the reason someone smiles today or makes a difference in a meaningful way. Leadership is not just about guiding others—it’s about lifting them up. Make someone's Monday!

Great leadership is rooted in trust (and truth), forming the foundation for all successful relationships. When trust is established, it creates a safe environment where team members feel valued, respected, and confident in their roles. Trust allows for open communication, and this openness fosters innovation and creativity, as team members are more likely to take risks and share bold ideas when they know their leader supports them. ✔ Consistency in leadership further strengthens trust. When your actions are consistent, your team knows what to expect from you. This reliability reassures them that you will follow through on your commitments and encourages them to do the same. Consistency involves fairness and impartiality, treating everyone with the same level of respect and consideration, which nurtures a sense of equality within the team. ✔ Empathy is another crucial element. By showing empathy, you demonstrate that you care about your team members as individuals, not just as workers. You take the time to understand their perspectives, challenges, and needs. This emotional connection builds trust and loyalty, as team members feel seen and supported. Empathy in leadership also means being approachable and available, allowing your team to feel comfortable coming to you with concerns or ideas. In essence, leadership isn’t just about directing tasks or making decisions—it’s about creating an environment where your team feels empowered to perform at their best. You’re not just guiding team members; you’re lifting them, helping them grow, and ensuring each person feels integral to the team’s success. ✨

Employee trust in leadership has declined, and HR frequently bears the brunt of this frustration. HR is seen as both the enforcer of policies and the go-to support system for personal issues, yet they (we) are not therapists and can’t always meet these emotional demands. This dynamic contributes to high HR turnover and pervasive mistrust. While some bad actors exist (isn't that true for all positions, across all industries?), it’s unfair to generalize HR as "inherently evil." HR professionals work tirelessly, often unnoticed, to advocate for employees and balance difficult decisions. It’s crucial for executives to support HR leaders, for employees to reassess their views on HR, and for HR professionals to seek the support they need. No, you don’t need to tell your HR leader you love them, but appreciating their role in your organization could go a long way. Thanks for sharing Lauren Williams and the Workplace Harmony team!

Reflecting on the true essence of leadership and teamwork, as exemplified by the men and women of the USA Basketball team—the best in the world. Their poise, passion, and professionalism were on full display as they trusted and supported each other to bring home the gold. No egos, no jealousy, no social media drama—just pure class and grace. Diana Taurasi, Jayson Tatum, Jewell Loyd, and Tyrese Haliburton showed us that leadership isn't about the spotlight; it's about lifting each other up, playing your role with excellence, and celebrating collective success. Leadership is about fostering an environment where everyone thrives, where every contribution is valued, and where the team’s victory is shared by all. This is a powerful reminder that great leadership transcends individual accolades—it's about building a legacy of unity, respect, and unwavering support. 🏀💪🏽🌟 . . . #GoldStandard #IYKYK #basketballjunkie #DEIdoctor

🧙🏾♂️ Magic happens when we step outside of ourselves.

It’s easy to get stuck in our viewpoints as leaders. But real progress happens when we welcome diverse perspectives. Here’s how we can lead the way: 👂🏾 Listen with Intent. Give everyone a chance to share their ideas and stories. Listening is the first step toward real understanding. 🌍 Invite Different Voices. Don’t wait for diverse perspectives to come to you—make space, reach out, and invite them in. Whether it’s team members with unique backgrounds or external voices - it all matters. 🗣️ Include in Decisions. Make sure these voices aren’t just heard but are actively shaping the decisions you make. True inclusion means everyone has a seat at the table. 🔄 Reflect and Evolve. After decisions are made, take a step back. How did diverse input shape the outcome? What can you do better next time? By embracing and including diverse perspectives, you’re not just improving today’s decisions—you’re building a future where innovation thrives, better solutions are created, and everyone feels like they belong. Try it today - thank us later. 😁

🏅 Leadership Lessons from the Olympics 🏅

View profile for Domonique Revere, Ph.D., graphic

Global Head of Human Resources | DEIB & Leadership Strategist | Culture Architect | HR Person of the Year Nominee | DEI Influencer | Forbes Human Resources Council |

🥇 As we watch the world’s best compete at the Olympics, there are some valuable lessons leaders can take away. Here are some to consider: 1️⃣ There’s Room at the Top for Everyone. Just like the athletes who shine in their disciplines, leaders can create environments where everyone’s strengths are celebrated. Success is not a limited resource; your achievements do not diminish others’ potential. 2️⃣ Shining a Light on Someone Else’s Excellence Doesn’t Dim Yours. When we recognize and applaud the achievements of our team members, we build a more motivated and cohesive team. 3️⃣ Greatness Takes Time...and persistence is key to achieving it. Olympians train for years, facing setbacks and challenges. Leaders can learn from their determination and unwavering commitment to their goals. 4️⃣ Diverse Teams Lead to Greater Innovation. The Olympics bring together athletes from all over the world, showcasing the power of diversity. Diverse teams bring varied perspectives and innovative solutions. With that, leaders are those who elevate others, celebrate diversity and embrace the spirit of continuous improvement. After all, the true measure of leadership is not in personal accolades but in the success and growth of those around us. 🌟

In the world of leadership, TGIF stands for more than just the end of the workweek. It encapsulates key principles that drive effective leadership and team success: 🔹 Trust - Build and maintain trust to foster open communication, collaboration, and a sense of safety within your team. There's nothing like having someone who has your back. Celia King, MBA, I'm not sure where I'd be without you. 🔹 Growth - Embrace a growth mindset, encouraging continuous personal and professional development to innovate and overcome challenges. I learned this from my friend Megan Miller! 🔹 Inspiration - Lead by example, set a vision and inspire your team to achieve their best, driving engagement and commitment. Thank you, Lauren Williams, for always being a source of love, light, and accountability. 🔹 Feedback - We must remember that feedback is a gift—yes, even when we don't like the packaging. Leaders must create an environment where constructive feedback is welcomed and utilized for growth and performance enhancement. Bridgett Battles, thank you for keeping it real and reminding us that authenticity is the "sauce" that sets us apart. Embrace these principles and watch your team thrive! Happy Friday, y'all! . . . #Leadership #TGIF #Trust #Growth #Inspiration #Feedback #TeamSuccess
