Home prices are at an all-time high and a record number of renters are spending at least half their income on housing, according to a new Harvard University report. Just one in seven households that are renting can now afford the typical cost of a first home. High interest rates, supply constraints and growth in home insurance premiums are all driving housing costs. We need to be creative in how we design homes and communities, incorporating opportunities to improve quality of life while reducing lifestyle costs. https://lnkd.in/gUhZKE49

Where Innovation Meets Action
About us
At the Alliance, we’re not in the business of buzz. We create a vision for the future of housing and then make it happen. How are we doing it? By creating conversations and then taking action that’s focused on what can actually be done, not just dreamed up in a think tank. We’re not taking a sledgehammer to the industry. We’re using a red pen and revising our industry’s approach to creating innovation. Real, tangible changes that production builders can make in the next few years without taking our eyes off what comes after that. So if you’re interested in helping us create what the future of our industry looks like — grab a pen and let’s get to work. The Alliance. Where innovation meets action.

Through our recent Actionable AI for Homebuilding panel session at last month's Summit, we explored use cases from a variety of industry perspectives to set the stage for future knowledge sharing on this subject. Here are a few things that we'll be following up on: ✔ AI's Role: AI offers solutions throughout a project's lifecycle, from design and planning to construction and management. ✔Benefits: It can generate and assess new project approaches quickly while capturing feasibility feedback across stakeholder groups. It can address challenges like talent shortages, cost overruns, and safety. ✔Applications: AI can optimize designs, improve project management, enhance quality control, drive supply chain decisions, and predict maintenance needs. ✔Impact on Jobs: AI is unlikely to replace the workforce entirely; instead, it will transform roles and require upskilling for human-AI collaboration. Enjoyed this article from The Builder's Daily team delivered in collaboration with insights from the New Home Trends Institute by John Burns Research and Consulting. With their smaller square footage and the flexibility to fit between townhomes and single-family detached homes, duplexes are gaining popularity among developers and buyers. This shift is more than just a trend. It's a growing phenomenon we have observed in numerous markets over the past few years and one many of members have been driving. In 2022, we started working on our own take to add more housing options with a single-family fit and feel for community developers. https://lnkd.in/gGGqZ2JV #infill #thepicketfencehome Jenni Nichols ActivePure Structural Modular Innovations LLC
