As an elected officer, the Sergeant at Arms is the chief law enforcement and senior protocol officer of the House of Representatives and is responsible for maintaining order on the House side of the United States Capitol. The Sergeant at Arms reviews all matters relating to the safety and security of Members of Congress,their staff, and the Capitol. The Congressional staff who attended yesterday's Personal Safety Forum in the Capitol Visitor Center Auditorium left with a lot of information on ways to increase his/her personal safety. Our featured panelists were: William P. McFarland, House Sergeant at Arms (at the podium), Chief J. Thomas Manger, U.S. Capitol Police, Chief Pamela A.
