Attention U.S. business owners: are you aware of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)? Enacted on January 1, 2021, the CTA mandates certain entities to report beneficial ownership information to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This includes corporations, LLCs, and other entities created by filing with a Secretary of State, as well as non-U.S. companies registered to do business in the U.S. CTA reporting requirements are currently being phased in, and there are two important deadlines you should be aware of: - New companies (formed on or after January 1, 2024) must report within 90 days. - Existing companies (formed before January 1, 2024) must report by January 1, 2025.
