Today, Christian de Boer, Managing Director of Jaya House Hotels, joins us to share how he rethought everything to create and provide a radically guest-focused experience that has earned his hotel a spot in Tripadvisor's Top 25 hotels in the World list for 5 consecutive years without a single negative review. 😲 You can listen now on the Hospitality Daily Podcast or YouTube channel, but I wanted to share a summary of ten takeaways from what he shared: 1) Focus on Guest Experience: Eliminate unnecessary fees (e.g., resort fees). Include complimentary services like breakfast, laundry, and spa treatments. Offer flexible check-in and check-out times. Provide convenient transportation options for guests. 2) Empower Your Staff: Employ full-time staff to ensure stability and experience. Invest in staff well-being, including comprehensive healthcare. Create a work environment where staff feel secure and valued. 3) Leverage Technology and Modern Marketing: Utilize platforms like Instagram, TripAdvisor, and Google for marketing. Avoid outdated marketing methods like expensive sales trips. Make your guests your "sales team" by impressing them and encouraging word-of-mouth referrals. 4) Simplify and Enhance Amenities: Provide high-quality, easy-to-use amenities (e.g., good coffee instead of instant coffee). Allow guests to use facilities like the swimming pool at their convenience (no stupid hours restrictions). Avoid nickel-and-diming guests for small services. 5) Personalize Guest Interactions: Treat guests as you would treat family or friends visiting your home. Avoid impersonal practices like immediately asking for a credit card upon arrival. Focus on making guests feel genuinely welcome and cared for. 6) Streamline Decision-Making: Make decisions quickly and efficiently with a small, empowered leadership team. Prioritize decisions that enhance guest and staff experiences. 7) Reject Unnecessary Industry Norms: Question the necessity of traditional practices like sales teams and industry memberships. Focus on what directly benefits your guests and staff rather than industry accolades. 8) Invest in Word-of-Mouth Marketing: Encourage guests to share their positive experiences with friends and family. Recognize the power of personal recommendations over traditional advertising. 9) Maintain Consistency: Strive for consistent excellence to build a strong reputation. Aim for zero negative reviews by continuously improving guest satisfaction. 10) Be Innovative and Adaptive: Continuously evolve your practices to stay relevant and meet guest expectations. Be open to new ideas and willing to discard outdated methods of providing hospitality or running a hotel. 🎧 Listen to the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts 📺 Watch our conversation on the Hospitality Daily YouTube channel 👉 Get my recap at HospitalityDaily.com ➕ Follow Hospitality Daily for daily inspiration you can act on

I can't emphasize enough the importance of mentorship in personal and professional growth. Being a part of the Leading Intentional Connections mentorship program has been a game-changer for me. Special shoutout to my incredible mentor, Jenni Pignatelli ✨ Our match couldn't have been more perfect. Every session with Jenni is packed with insights, inspiration, and actionable advice. She constantly challenges me to think bigger and bolder, and her guidance has been invaluable in navigating my journey. If you're looking to elevate your career and connect with industry leaders who truly care about your growth, I highly recommend the LIC mentorship program. It's more than just mentorship; it's about building meaningful, intentional connections that last a lifetime. Thank you, Brooke Gocklin , Renate Berenett Reinhartsen , Nazik Ghukasyan for creating Leading Intentional Connections and the amazing opportunities it brings, and thank you, Jenni, for being the best mentor anyone could ask for! 💙

The hospitality industry provides incredible career opportunities, with rapid promotions - but there's a dark side of this that you need to know about both as a leader - and someone building a career in hospitality. Rob Paterson joins us today to share his story of working his way up to CEO, which included promotions faster than the training he had to perform as effectively as he could have at times. Today, we're learning from the most creative man in hospitality, Michaelangelo L'Acqua: https://lnkd.in/gfuZf7Am Michaelangelo has lived an incredible life, from classical violinist to being recruited by Tom Ford to be music director for Gucci and Saint Laurent. From there, he became the Global Music Director for W Hotels, and today, he serves as the Global Director of Entertainment and Culture for SH Hotels & Resorts. "The hospitality industry is a canvas for creativity," he told me before we dove into so many elements of creativity, including: • How sound shapes the guest experience • Creating brand identity through music and culture • Collaborating with artists to elevate your offerings Michaelangelo also reveals his formula for crafting 'moments of awe' that turn first-time visitors into loyal customers - something I found fascinating.
