About us
Founded in 1964, HopeWell is a nonprofit social services agency headquartered in metro Boston with regional offices across Massachusetts. Our mission is the driving force behind everything we do: We enrich the lives and expand the opportunities of children, adults, and families in need of love, support and safe places to grow and thrive. HopeWell’s programs provide a range of critical services to individuals, children, and families across Massachusetts. We are the largest nonprofit provider of foster care in the state. Our programs also support education outcomes for students in grades K-3 who are experiencing foster care; young adults who are transitioning out of the foster care system as they launch into adulthood; families who are working to stay together; and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For six decades, we have aimed to be leaders in care and a force for good.

All kids deserve a safe home and a caring family — WITHOUT an expiration date. But in Massachusetts each year, between 600-900 young people "age out" of the foster care system without the support of a permanent family to lean on for anything from financial support to life advice. With support from our philanthropic partners — including Liberty Mutual Insurance, The Lynch Foundation, and Yawkey Foundation — HopeWell recently purchased, renovated, and furnished two multi-unit apartment homes that will enable us to support young people who are "aging out" of foster care for decades to come. 🏡 But to make sure each apartment is ready for youth to call home when they enter our My First Place™ program, ongoing TLC and maintenance is needed. When the New England Patriots heard about this, they were READY to roll up their sleeves and help! Alongside staff from our My First Place™ team, Patriots player Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and members of their community relations team recently spent the day working on one of the apartments. They cleaned. They dremeled. They scraped. They scraped some more. They sanded. And they painted. 📸 Swipe/click to see their handiwork! 🔨 🖌 #fostercare #Massachusetts #NationalFosterCareMonth (Donna Spigarolo Hunter Bruckner Beccah Tibert, LSW Travis Kang Kilpatrick) *Our My First Place™ program provides young adults (ages 18-24) who are aging out of foster care with shared, rent-free apartments so they can reach their full potential at a pivotal time in their lives. With a stable place to call home and individualized supports from our team, each youth focuses on their education and employment goals, builds community, and establishes the foundations they need for long-term self-sufficiency. Like all kids, children in foster care need secure relationships and consistency. By supporting HopeWell, you're helping to make that a reality for hundreds of children experiencing foster care across Massachusetts. That's because threaded throughout all of our work is a focus on ensuring stability and finding a path to permanency - whether that's through reunification with their birth family, a kinship placement with a caring adult in their lives, or adoption or legal guardianship. 💚In recognition of National Foster Care Month, please make a donation of any amount now to support this important work!
