Credit Unions exist to serve our Member-owners, Team Members, and Communities. Our goal in pursuing a Centra partnership and putting this merger vote before the Members was to increase and enhance our Member products, services, and conveniences as well as our ability to compete and give back to our Communities, while providing greater career opportunities for our Team Members. Decisions like this merger are made by Members, who as owners of our institution, can vote. The preliminary vote results released by the third-party administrator indicated that the majority of Hoosier Hills Members who voted are not in favor of merging with Centra under the terms of the agreement as outlined. Although we are disappointed in the voting results, we appreciate the passion of our Hoosier Hills Members, and their willingness to be involved in this democratic process. We will continue to move forward as a strong, financial institution and remain committed to making a positive difference in our Members’ lives and Communities by investing in our footprint, finding new and innovative ways to grow, and building an even more robust financial Community with people at the center, as we strive to offer Better Service and Better Banking that is Better for our Membership. Hoosier Hills Credit Union delivers on the promise of being better for our members and the communities we serve with the announcement of a definitive merger agreement with our longtime Indiana neighbor, Columbus, IN-based Centra Credit Union! Pending regulatory and members approval, the partnership will become effective later in the year and will result in delivering more of everything there is to love about credit union banking. This week we celebrated the grand opening of our new location at 317 Ridge Avenue in Greendale with a ceremonial ribbon cutting event. We are honored to have shared this moment with members of the Greendale Chamber of Commerce and local officials, as well as representatives from the Greendale Main Street and Friends of Lauren Hill Memorial Park organizations, local community members, and members of our Hoosier Hills Credit Union staff, Board of Directors, and Supervisory Committee.
