Upon reflecting on the amazing success of the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 won by Bryson DeChambeau inside the ropes, we cannot help but think of the enormous efforts and contributions from thousands of people outside the ropes. From the United States Golf Association (USGA) to Pinehurst Resort to 4,200 volunteers and an even longer list of folks, our destination shined on a global stage with the largest TV audience for a U.S. Open since 2013. The ripple effect of that coverage and 250,000 people in Moore County during U.S. Open week will have an indelible impact on the Sandhills and Piedmont region of North Carolina for months and years to come. At least until we do it again with back-to-back men’s and women’s Opens in 2029. Thanks to our tremendous partners with Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) led by Christopher Chung supported by Gene McLaurin, Kelly Dawson and Emily Willis, our economic development leader in Moore County Natalie Dean Hawkins, PMP with Moore County Economic Development Partnership. Kudos as well to Rick Cloutier and his team at the Moore County Airport who were the first point of contact for virtually all the players, support teams and visiting VIPs flying into SOP. We saw some world-class golf, but it was also a valuable time to enhance and cultivate new partnerships, reconnect with friends and colleagues, but also a chance to demonstrate that the Home of American Golf is truly a special place with even more remarkable people. What. A. Week!

This spring, Moore County's newest brewery is expected to open! The Buggy Factory by Southern Pines Brewing Company is located in downtown Carthage and will be the town's first-ever brewery. The facility utilizes a structure which housed the historic Tyson & Jones Buggy Factory more than 125 years ago. Owner Micah Niebauer and his team have painstakingly renovated the building to accommodate a modern two-story restaurant/bar and brewing operation unlike anything else seen in Moore County. Come along with us as Micah provides a special sneak peek to see how The Buggy Factory has been transformed as they approach the official opening this spring!
