Cathleen Mosure, LPN - Outpatient Clinics "Cathleen Mosure is always very helpful any time the case managers or inpatient nurses call her! She is quick to respond to questions and communicates with the urology providers to get answers to any questions we may have. If there is a patient on Med/Surg that the nurse is having a difficult time with placing a cath, Cathleen comes to the rescue! She is caring and compassionate with the patients and always a patient advocate. We recently called her to try and coordinate scheduling an outpatient procedure for an elderly patient that has to be done in Columbus. Transportation is an issue for the patient, and we wanted to try and schedule the procedure during the swing bed stay as we can get transportation services. She made sure to inform me that the patient would need to come into HVCH Urology Clinic monthly to have the catheter changed and that they would work with Outpatient Infusion to try and get the appointments scheduled on the same day. A CLOSER LOOK: ENDOSCOPY HVCH Endoscopy, located in the Surgery Department, is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 pm.. with Dr. Michael Tornwall and is known for consistently good patient satisfaction scores. Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure that can be used to examine your digestive tract. Using a flexible tube with a light and camera attached, your doctor can view pictures of your digestive tract on a TV. Your doctor can even take biopsies or remove polyps. A polyp is a growth on or in an organ in your body. Most polyps are benign, which means they are not cancerous. Some are precancerous, which means they can turn into cancer over time. Others may be malignant (cancerous), which means they can spread. Some reasons to have an endoscopy include: gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, esophageal cancer, difficulty swallowing, continuous vomiting, bleeding, stomach pain and anemia. Current guidelines suggest that you should get your first colonoscopy at age 45 if you are at average risk for colorectal cancer. If no polyps are found during your initial e, then you wouldn’t need your next for another 10 years. Regular screenings are recommended from age 45 to 75. To prepare for an upper endoscopy, you will not have anything to eat or drink after midnight. For a colonoscopy or lower endoscope, you will consume only clear liquids the entire day before your procedure and will be given prep to start that afternoon to clear out your bowel and then nothing to eat or drink after midnight. You will need to have a ride to take you home from your endoscopy procedure due to sedation given during the procedure. This sedation does wear off quickly, but does make it so you do not remember having the procedure. In most cases the doctor will be able to tell you the results of your endoscopy once your sedation has worn off. However, if a biopsy was warranted the results may take a few weeks. From start to finish you are typically in the surgical services department for around 2 hours.
