Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15 to honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latin people throughout history. At HKS, we are proud to have employees from different heritages and cultures that offer diverse perspectives and experiences through their work. This is Adriana Rubio — she is a project architect at HKS Mexico City, and the co-chair of the internal Hispanic & Latin Affinity and Inclusion Group (AIG). Read this Q A to learn about her heritage, the purpose behind the AIG and more. Adriana R. #hispanicheritagemonth #design #architecture

Gen, known as the global leader in cyber safety, recently united a family of brands under the new Gen brand. The company had a vision to transform their new Silicon Valley hub site to embody the spirit, values and mission of their people. HKS partnered with Gen to create a design driven by the company's core purpose of "Powering Digital Freedom." The space was created to connect people, place and brand in an amenity-rich work environment that is filled with natural light, creating a seamless flow throughout the diverse areas. Through a hybrid, people-first solution, the new hub site can flex to meet the daily demands of its workforce with adaptable spaces that flex to accommodate peak occupancy for special events. With the increased need to bring effective pharmaceuticals and vaccines to market quickly, architects and developers are partnering to create speculative labs around the world. Our designers and lab planners at HKS contribute by converting existing buildings into facilities with shell space and flexible pre-fit labs to accommodate community needs. In a recent LabDesign article, our very own Robert DeGenova and Tom Giuggio explain how Wexford's 850 Phoenix Bioscience Core, designed by HKS, is more than a research facility — it's a community-based research and clinical destination that is prepared for the future of an ever-evolving economic and scientific landscape. We asked our very own Michelle Stevenson what makes being a project architect at HKS so special? 🔽 🔽 "Being a project architect at HKS means being a part of a creative and innovative team that values my voice. One of the biggest factors that has shaped my career is being able to work on a project from conception through completion and construction. At HKS, I have done just that. I was a part of the team that helped shape what we now know as SoFi Stadium. Whether I am leading an informative tour or enjoying a game in the stadium, I always feel a sense of enormous pride." As a project architect at HKS Los Angeles, Michelle believes that being deeply invested in design from concept to completion produces the best holistic experience for patrons, athletes and the surrounding community. ✨ HKS has project architect openings in offices across the firm. Follow Fred is back! It's a new season and a new perspective for HKS' very own Fred Ortiz. Last year, we had the privilege of joining his adventures as he traveled each week to watch his son play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He shared a behind the scenes look at what it was like to experience gameday as a parent of an athlete and as a sports designer. This year brings a new look on things — experiencing the venues still as a sports designer, but as someone who isn't connected personally to just one team. His adventures will take him to stadiums he has helped designed, as well as ones he hasn't, to explore the atmosphere as a visitor and fan. Read on to see where Fred has been lately — El Paso to Colorado Springs to Inglewood and more. 🔽 #sports #design #architecture
