About us

Founded in 1992 as Friends of Hermann Park, Hermann Park Conservancy is a nonprofit citizens’ organization dedicated to the stewardship and improvement of Hermann Park – today and for generations to come. Through a public-private partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Hermann Park Conservancy raises millions of dollars each year to enhance and maintain the Park. The Conservancy also manages the design of projects, and then shares construction costs with the City of Houston. Thanks to the generous financial support of foundations, corporations, and individuals, the Conservancy has raised more than $122 million for improvement projects in Hermann Park.

Thank you to all the incredible volunteers who have joined us in our storm cleanup efforts! 💚 Hurricane Beryl severely impacted the Park, leaving many fallen trees and debris in its wake. More than 700 volunteer hours have been logged since the storm, which has made a huge difference in restoring the Park! If you would like to be part of the Park's recovery journey, join us at this week's volunteer sessions or email [email protected] to find more ways you can help. Friday, July 26 & Saturday, July 27 | 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Volunteers will help Conservancy staff throughout the Heart of the Park, which includes the Lake Picnic area and the PNC ImagiNature Playground. Meet at the Pedal Boat kiosk in Lake Plaza (6102 Hermann Park Drive) to receive instruction and supplies from the staff. Parking is available in Lots E, F or G near the Houston Zoo.

The Conservancy's Job Shadow Program allows students (ages 15-17) the opportunity to observe and participate in a variety of work-related activities. From July 11 to August 3, the Job Shadow Program enhances student understanding of careers in conservation and provides them with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals. Join us on Saturday, June 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Wortham Pavilion in the Commons for an overview and orientation session for parents and teens to learn more about the program.
