The Hearst Newspapers DevHub’s second DataViz Pitch-A-Thon for journalists was a hub of creativity, strategy and ideation aimed at developing cross-market data, graphics and interactive stories.
There's a lot of talent in these 25 rectangles. The Hearst DevHub recently held its second DataViz Pitch-A-Thon for data graphics journalists across Hearst Newspapers, and the teams' ideas blew away the judges. 💥 Led by Danielle Rindler and Alexandra Kanik, the team convened 30 journalists from the San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News, (Albany) Times Union and Hearst Connecticut Media Group to brainstorm and develop cross-market data, graphics and interactive story ideas and have them voted on by a panel of judges. The ultimate goal: Get brainy folks from our newsrooms to come together, share new ideas and build a support network beyond their own teams. Our hope is that this event and other touch points can help build a foundation for greater collaboration, as well as more in-depth and innovative journalism. Now the teams will come together to get the winning idea - and hopefully a few others - published for our #localnews readers. 👏👏👏
