Has anyone else been watching this Epic and Particle Health dispute? 👀 ICYM, the issue is how patient data is being exchanged and used at scale. Very public disputes like this one are fueling a lack of trust in interoperability and contributing to the narrative that your health data isn't safe. But what's really going on here? There's a lot of value in the potential speed and efficiency that interoperability brings to the exchange of patient data, but it has to be balanced with privacy protections. And that's a tough balance to strike. While there's no easy answer, AHIOS believes (and HealthMark does too!) that release of information best practices are key to bridging this growing trust gap. Read the full article below for some additional perspective on how release of information just may be the key to interoperability harmony.

Struggling to understand #interoperability? We’ve got you covered!   Electronic health records (EHRs) streamline medical record management and elevate it to the digital age. The downside? They don’t talk to each other—at least, not without some help. That’s where interoperability comes in. 🌐   If you've heard the term "interoperability" being thrown around left and right but still have some questions, you're not the only one. This month on the HealthMark blog, we help you cut through the confusion and explain what interoperability is, decode some of the key acronyms you may be hearing and show you what it could look like at different levels of implementation.   Check out the latest post on the HealthMark blog: https://lnkd.in/gA9Nx_RC

Let's not mince words; the designated record set (DRS) can be confusing. 🤯 In the Summer 2024 issue of For the Record Magazine, HealthMark COO and General Counsel Joe Licata talks about the importance of a clearly defined designated record set and answers your most frequently asked questions about what should (and should not) be included in your DRS policy. Just a few of the questions Joe covers in the article are “do I have to include records from an outside provider?” and “does the request type change what I should include?”   Learn these answers and more when you read the full article in For the Record Magazine here: https://lnkd.in/gC-JKmwP
