Healthcare IT spending surged over the past year, with many providers and payers prioritizing investments in infrastructure, cybersecurity, and workflow optimization. A recent KLAS and Bain & Co. report shows that 80% of healthcare organizations increased their IT budgets, focusing on high-ROI solutions like data platforms and patient engagement tools. As generative AI gains traction, healthcare leaders are optimistic about its potential, but challenges like regulatory concerns and cybersecurity risks remain. The shift in spending highlights the industry's ongoing efforts to integrate innovative technology while navigating complex obstacles. https://lnkd.in/gU9vVegE

Talent Without Systems: The Leadership Flaw That Could Be Sinking Your Team Early in my career, I worked with a leader who assembled high-performing teams. He had a knack for identifying talent — people with the right skills, knowledge, and a proven track record. But he learned an important lesson the hard way. During one of our conversations, he told me about hiring a performer with great experience. Naturally, he expected her to replicate her previous success at his organization.  But after a few months, something was off. She wasn’t performing at the level everyone anticipated. The leader was stumped: She had the talent and experience, so why wasn’t she delivering? He finally realized what the issue was — it was the system. At her previous job, she had developed specific processes and systems that helped her excel. But at his organization, those systems didn’t exist. The onboarding process had focused on company policies and basic procedures, but it didn’t equip her with the tools she needed to succeed. So, the leader decided to work closely with her to understand the systems she used in the past and adapted them to fit within the organization’s framework.  It wasn’t long before she was hitting their expectations of her, and the entire team’s productivity improved. This experience taught the leader that having talent is just one piece of the puzzle.  For your team to truly excel, you need systems in place that enable your people to perform at their best. Without the right systems, even the most talented individuals can struggle. So, what systems has your organization put in place to elevate your team’s productivity? #Leadershi #TeamPerformance #EmployeeProductivity #LeadershipLessons

The Bold Move You Should Make Before Resigning We’ve all heard the saying, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.” Many professionals feel this, especially when they’ve been with the same company for a few years but feel stuck — no raises, no promotions, no new opportunities on the horizon. This was exactly the situation for a candidate we recently worked with. She had been in her role for several years and felt she wasn’t being compensated or recognized for the value she brought to the company. Frustrated and ready to move on, she began thinking it was time to explore new job opportunities. But instead of immediately jumping ship, here’s what she did: She took the time to build a solid case for why she deserved a raise and more opportunities. She gathered evidence of her contributions, documented her achievements, and prepared a clear outline of her career goals. Next, she scheduled a meeting with her manager. During the conversation, she presented her value to the company and expressed her desire for growth. She didn’t just focus on what she wanted; she also outlined how her goals aligned with the company’s objectives, making a compelling case for why she should be given the opportunities she was looking for. The result? Her manager was impressed by her initiative and the strength of her case. She did not immediately receive a raise. However, she was given a clear path to advance within the company. Not all situations end this way. For this person, the outcome was positive, but she knew that if her manager hadn’t responded in a positive way, it would’ve been a sign that it was time to move on. #CareerGrowth #EmployeeEngagement #NegotiationSkills #WorkplaceStrategy

Caught Between Two Offers: The Art of Making the Right Choice A consultant who had collaborated with our firm was eager to transition back into a full-time leadership role within a health system. After several rounds of interviews, she received an offer from a large and well-respected organization. Although it wasn’t the perfect fit, the role was a solid opportunity. She informed the potential employer that she would accept the offer, but she needed to give her current employer a 30-day notice. Despite the extended timeline, the organization agreed. However, just days before her start date, she received a call from another organization she had previously interviewed with. They invited her to meet with their president, and after the meeting, she was presented with an offer for what she felt was a better overall position. Even though this new role seemed more aligned with her goals, she felt “obligated” to honor her commitment to the first organization, which had been patient during the four-week wait. Two weeks into the new job, she realized she had made the wrong choice. She reached out to the second company, hoping the position was still available, but it had already been filled. To complicate matters, just two weeks later, the person who had hired her resigned. Reflecting on the situation, she now believes she should have accepted the second offer, even if it meant leaving the first company in a difficult position. What do you think? #CareerChoices #JobOffers #CareerLessons #HealthIT

Stop Trying to Be Perfect: Here’s What Really Lands the Job In today’s competitive job market, it’s about how you navigate the challenges that come your way, especially when transitioning into a new role or industry. I was recently working with a candidate who was looking to move from her current role in healthcare IT into a role in which she wasn’t an expert. Although she had a strong background, there were a few areas where her experience didn’t fully align with the job description. Instead of ignoring these gaps, she took a different approach — one that made all the difference in her job search. Where she was able to get interviews, here’s what she did: 1. She acknowledged the gaps. During her interviews, she openly discussed the areas where her background didn’t perfectly match the job requirements. By doing so, she demonstrated to the hiring manager that she was self-aware and understood where she needed to grow. 2. She proposed solutions. She didn’t stop at just identifying the gaps. She also outlined a clear plan for how she would address them, showing her ability to anticipate challenges and proactively solve them. This gave the hiring team confidence in her problem-solving skills and her commitment to the role. Although no tactics work all the time, in this case, she secured a job. Her new manager specifically told her that her acknowledgment of her gaps — with a plan in hand — gave them the confidence to offer her the job. In today’s market, recognizing where you might fall short and communicating your plan to overcome those challenges isn’t just smart — it’s essential. #CareerAdvice #JobSearchTips #CareerTransition #InterviewTips

Why Potential Matters More Than Perfection in Hiring The skills we have today might not be the skills we need tomorrow. Studies show that the shelf life of skills is getting shorter and shorter. I recently spoke with a client who understands this challenge well. They’re not just looking for candidates who can check every box from day one. Instead, they focus on finding people who meet the minimum expectations to do the job — but, more importantly, who have the potential to learn quickly and adapt as the landscape changes. With this shift in focus, they’ve not only expanded their candidate pool, but they’ve also positively changed their culture at the same time. At the end of the day, the most valuable employees aren’t those who know everything — they’re the ones who can learn anything. How does your organization prioritize learning and adaptability in hiring? #HealthIT #Adaptability #TalentAcquisition #Leadership
