The Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN) is a nationally recognized collaboration of more than 65 health systems leveraging their institutional assets more intentionally to improve health and well-being by addressing economic and racial inequities in the communities they serve. HAN works to achieve a critical mass of health systems adopting the anchor mission, a proactive commitment to leverage their economic, political, and human capital in partnership with community to drive equitable, local economic impact. Through defining the healthcare leadership standard, promoting industry collaboration, incubating and scaling anchor strategies, and leading innovations in implementation, HAN strives to build a healthcare and anchor institution movement focused on addressing economic and racial inequities in community conditions that create poor health.

Our next anchor collaborative spotlight is the Memphis Medical District Collaborative! Under the leadership of Rory Thomas, MMDC and its anchor members, the collaborative is focused on realizing the cultural and economic potential of the underserved Memphis Medical District by enhancing and activating public spaces, building career pathways for local residents, catalyzing real estate development and small business growth, and engaging the community. For example, MMDC's Impact Workforce strategy, called Hire Local, equips people with the skills and confidence to start a new career in healthcare — increasing access to quality jobs with benefits for low-to-moderate income residents. In 2023, Hire Local served over 200 residents through programs ranging from training, career mapping, transportation or tuition assistance, stipends, and referrals to community https://ow.ly/psHh50SAuMY total, 100 residents completed training, job shadowing, and interviews across five local hospitals in the district, with 46 residents starting living-wage jobs with benefits. Exciting news for Children's Hospital in Oakland! Today, we celebrated the signing of a Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) that prioritizes local #union workers for the construction of our proposed hospital and site improvement project. "This hospital and project are vital to the city of Oakland, and so, too, is supporting the construction and trades workers of our community, said Nicholas Holmes, M.D., MBA, President of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals. City of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and Oakland City Councilmember Dan Kalb attended the signing, as did Building & Construction Trades Council of Alameda County and other community leaders.

Founded in 1916, KCU is the oldest medical school in Kansas City and the largest medical school in Missouri. KCU also has programs such as the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program, an MS in biomedical science, and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
