Last week, the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services held a press conference to thank hospital, city and state partners for the success of the ACIS Medicaid supportive housing waiver program. We cannot overstate the importance of housing as the solution to homelessness—nor the dedication from our Supportive Housing team in scaling support from 100 to 300 households in six years. Read more about the people who made this work possible and what ACIS expansion means for Maryland: https://lnkd.in/ef_Qzpvm >> "Though homelessness can appear complex," President & CEO Kevin Lindamood said, "the solutions are surprisingly simple: affordable housing coupled with the supportive services we all need to find housing and keep it." #supportivehousing #homelessness #medicaid #everyonedeservestogohome

Good to celebrate the public/private partnership & Baltimore hospital investment that helped take the Maryland supportive housing waiver (ACIS) from pilot to program in six years. Shout out to the Health Care for the Homeless supportive housing team that proves the success of the model every day. Housing is health care. https://lnkd.in/ejFdbh7h

In the news: This week Mayor Brandon Scott convened a press conference to announce the purchase of the Holiday Inn Express and the Sleep Inn, to be operated as temporary shelters. President & CEO Kevin Lindamood attended, alongside Executive Director of Episcopal Housing Corporation Dan McCarthy and other city leaders. The facilities, just a block away from our Fallsway clinic, will ultimately be converted into permanent supportive housing and represent a step in the right direction for ending homelessness in Baltimore.

🩺❤️ At the end of June, over a dozen clients and their caregivers attended HEART Health and Wellness Day! The MDPCP team held giveaways and provided education about accessing cancer screenings, Medicare and HEART funds, and the basics of care at Health Care for the Homeless. Behavioral Health Therapist Deirdre Hoey, LCSW-C also led the room in a breathing and movement exercise. 📚 Last week over 30 volunteers from the Baltimore Women's Giving Circle donated and packed hundreds of books to be distributed at our clinic sites. Access to reading is essential for children's development, and donations like these are treasured by families experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the BWGC! Feat. Today's #SCOTUS decision is inhumane and will make #homelessness worse across the nation. And the brunt of this ruling will fall on unhoused Black, Brown, and Indigenous people. Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/ghA3rzYu #JohnsonVGrantsPass
