For better or for worse, social media is a constant in our daily lives. While it connects us to friends, helps us engage with others, and opens up a world of creativity, it is also a gateway opportunity for cyber-criminals to attack. Fake accounts and bots created to ensnare you online are everywhere. Make sure you are only engaging with verified or known accounts/people. Never share your personal information with anyone, on social media. #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #SecureOurWorld

We've all gotten the emails...a foreign prince needs your help escaping captivity! Send money and forward to all your friends! Or, "if you forward this email within 10 minutes, you'll receive this week's winning lottery numbers!" As soon as you forward that email, you've exposed yourself and your entire address book. Make sure you don't fall for this sneaky cyber-attack! Sending money to that foreign prince will just lead to your bank account information falling into the wrong hands. Forwarding those emails just helps cyber-criminals further their nefarious goals! Remember, you are the first line of defense, so if it seems questionable, it probably is, and you should delete it immediately. #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month! Hastings wants to help keep you safe, online and beyond. Cyber criminals are constantly finding creative ways to try and get you to engage with them. They even branch out from the seemingly traditional methods and bring the scams directly to your phone. From package delivery texts to scary "this is your boss" texts, scammers are working to trick you every minute of the day. If you get an unexpected or odd text, from a number you can't identify, or asking you to follow a strange link/send money/buy gift cards...DON'T DO IT. Don't click it, don't send it, don't do it. Stay aware and stay safe! #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #SecureOurWorld

The Internet has a wonderful wealth of information and makes accessing tools and resources incredibly easy. However, it also makes it easy for cyber-criminals to use it to their advantage, too! October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and Hastings wants to help you be safe online. When you're following links and downloading resources/documents/etc. online, make sure you're only doing so from verified sources. If it feels fishy (or, dare we say, "phishy") don't download it! #SecureOurWorld #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth

We've all seen the fun games online. They go something like this "Find Your Fairy Queen Name!" Then, they tell you to choose the first letter of your middle name, your month of birth, and ask other questions about you. Seems harmless. In reality, you're spoon feeding cyber-criminals your personal information that they can then use against you. Same with back-to-school posts! While it's exciting to document your kid's milestones, sharing them online tells criminals (both cyber and very real) where to find your kids, their ages, and their interests. While it's great to share your life online, make sure you're being safe! #SecureOurWorld #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth
