Pretty cool, Alan Hahn! 💸 Gaia Tech closed its pre-seed funding round. The Swiss startup turns food production waste into high-value ingredients for cosmetics, food, and feed manufacturers. Thanks Samuel Bühlmann for the heads up. 🧈 Netherlands-based Willicroft used precision fermentation to replicate a critical flavour component in butter, butyric acid, in its new plant-based butter alternative, Original Better. Thanks for the samples at the HackSummit Brad Vanstone 🚗 Research from Oxford University finds that having UK meat eaters eat less meat would be the equivalent of "taking 8M cars off the roads", in terms of GHG emissions. 📮Germany’s Veganz Group AG has begun production of its 2D-printed oat milk sheets that can be sent by post. Big Idea Ventures Unveils First Investments in Alt Protein Startups “The ten companies in our first NPF II cohort are supported by outstanding innovators and creative thinkers. We aim to identify and support companies in this ecosystem that can bring forward the next generation of alternative protein leaders,” said Andrew D. Ive, Founder of Big Idea Ventures. The New York accelerator program includes startups like Brazil’s Future Cow Technologies, which is the country’s first cellular agriculture startup using precision fermentation for alternative dairy. Other investments include Harvest Moon Foods from Canada, Naturannova from Chile, and US-based Pioneer Biolabs, Inc. and SoundEats.
