We’re excited to share that our CEO, Kwame Owusu-Kesse was named to TIME100 Next, TIME’s list of “the next 100 most influential people in the world.” This annual list recognizes rising leaders in business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism, and more “who are not waiting long in life to make an impact.” TIME praised Mr. Owusu-Kesse for his visionary leadership and launch of our Wealth Builds initiative, “a landmark strategy to chip away at the wealth gap.” This recognition highlights the collective work of HCZ to empower the success of scholars, families, and neighborhoods across the country. Here in Harlem and communities like ours across the country, our young people are on the path to bright futures. Many are graduating from high school, earning college degrees, and building careers. But as they move through these pivotal stages of their journeys, the American Dream is far from guaranteed. Our young people face systemic barriers — most notably, the wealth gap. To confront this issue, we have launched Wealth Builds. Through this national initiative, we aim to end intergenerational poverty and close the wealth gap by empowering young people and families with the education and resources to build successful financial futures. We are committed to helping our scholars achieve their full potential. Discover more about Wealth Builds: https://lnkd.in/ewAz4gBa

“I have the best job in the world. That's because I get to witness our young people realize their potential.” Meet Kwame Owusu-Kesse, the proud CEO of Harlem Children’s Zone! Growing up in Worcester, MA, he faced challenges similar to our scholars — challenges that can define a young person’s path in life. Fortunately, he had adults in his childhood who invested in him and his future. As CEO, Mr. Owusu-Kesse is investing in our young people the same way the adults in his life invested in him — helping tens of thousands of scholars and families in Harlem and beyond to build bright futures. Our HCZ Promise Academy scholars, along with our CEO Kwame Owusu-Kesse and staff from our Promise Academy After School and Athletics, took over the #TodayShow at Rockefeller Plaza this morning with NBA star Stephen Curry! Meeting Mr. Curry was a dream come true for our scholars, who shot hoops with the NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist, posed for photos, and took home copies of Curry’s new graphic novel, “Sports Superheroes Volume # 1: Stephen Curry”! Shout out to Mr. Curry for making this an experience our scholars will never forget!
Lifelong memories were created today for our young people at Harlem Children's Zone as they joined Stephen Curry on the NBC News #TodayShow! Special thank you to Steph, Eat. Learn. Play.
