Happy Friday HANDS Families!! Today marks the 34th Anniversary of the American With Disabilities Act that was signed by President George H. Bush in 1990. We can thank the ADA for many accommodations now available for people with physical and developmental disabilities in businesses, schools, workplaces and public parks. But, we know more must be done to serve our children and community effectively. This Wednesday we had the pleasure of presenting to the wonderful staff at the Poe Center for Health Education. We discussed best practices and ways to support autistic and neurodiverse learners. Come with Gaile as she shows you how to make your very own sensory bin! 🌈🪀☀️ Super easy, fun, and all things you can get at the Dollar Store! You’ll just need: Large container with a lid Filler base (beans, pasta, kinetic sand etc) A range of sensory toys and textures (small toys and objects) Spoons, tongs, cups etc. Just fill about 1/3 of your container with your choice of base and place your sensory items in! This is great for improving fine motor skills, exposing various textures, and providing a therapeutic experience.
