Congrats to all of the Winthrop Center team members for winning a Green GOOD DESIGN Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design (quite a mouthful!). We’re hopeful that this project will move the needle forward by demonstrating that Passive House performance is possible in predominantly glass buildings. Thanks to our many partners on this project, including Suffolk Construction, Steven Winter Associates, DeSimone Consulting Engineering, WSP in the U.S., Lam Partners, Tillotson Design Associates, SOCOTEC USA and more.

Some great shots by Scott Hargis of 531 Bryant, located in San Francisco's Central SOMA neighborhood. The exterior is characterized by a warm, gridded metal facade; inside, the lobby embraces rectilinear geometry with a cantilevered reception desk of Calacatta marble and a permeable wall of floor-to-ceiling white oak slats. A landscaped rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline. Congratulations to our client, Urban Land Development, LLC, and the project team of Glenn Rescalvo, Harriet Chang, Julia Leister, and Alexandra Prior. The Belvedere is now open in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco, and we have some great photos to share. The design approach juxtaposes strong geometric forms with natural materials, including the lobby space which is decorated in coffered wood paneling, marble, and poured terrazzo floor with a custom brass inlay pattern. Units feature imported Italian stone, Madera European Oak floors, Gabana Quartzite countertops, and custom cabinetry. Great work from Glenn Rescalvo, John Ishihara, Julia Leister, Ashton Kidd, Joyce Lim, Alexandra Prior, Patricia Escoda, Victoria Pangilinan, and Katie Wilson.
