A group of Green Angel Ventures portfolio companies had a fun CEO get-together in London yesterday. Thanks GAV for illuminating talks on some of the legal aspects of raising a round by Neil Foster; IP strategies Matt Pinney; and the legislative landscape Sarah Mackintosh. Food for thought indeed. Great to hear from other CEOs/founders too.
About us
Halocycle was established because of a shared passion for finding a solution to the plastics problem. We are a dedicated team who have spent a combined 40 years searching for answers to environmental and industrial issues. We are focused on deploying microwave processing in an innovative way as a means of recycling plastic, and particularly chlorine containing plastic (such as PVC). The Halocycle mission is to use microwave technology to provide a solution to the plastics problem. Our vision is a circular lifecycle for plastic, leading to a dramatic reduction in plastic waste entering landfill, incineration, or otherwise leaking into the environment.

When I’m talking about the need for advanced recycling of plastics, some people find it hard to believe that global plastic production continues to rise - it does. Shout out to all the innovative companies looking to solve the plastic waste problem.
I’m in New York for Climate Week because the future of oil is plastics & toxic petrochemicals Just think…. In the past 75 years (since 1950) the evidence shows that plastic production has taken us to the point of exceeding the “planetary boundaries” for chemical and plastic pollution. But in just the next 25 years, industry plans to triple plastic production, despite the threats to the climate 🌪️🔥⛈️ our health 🤰🏻 the environment 🐟🦋 Read 👉🏽 https://lnkd.in/gR985P-J

Speaking on the Lifted Ventures panel this morning at their Women Angel’s Conference made me reflect on the importance of the support Halocycle has from our women angel investors; board members and employees. We wouldn’t be where we are without you - I suspect it’s rude to shout out investors - but you know who you are! Thank you
Lots of talk on data this morning - sobering statistics but hopeful moves as we see more investment by women into female-led founded businesses. We're hearing from our panel Sarah Ellerby, Natalie Boswell, Zandra Moore, Henrietta Boyd and Amy Pierechod on their experiences - both from the investor perspective and founder perspective. 'It's important to be in a safe space, to feel comfortable to ask the stupid questions as a female founder because we often don't have the networks and the experience to know some of the basic things and that's okay.' Building up critical mass behind female founders in the regions will drive the UK economy. We need to use data to prove that - and we are. Data tells a story, we then need to act on that story. #GenderSmartInvesting #womenbackingwomen #angelinvestors #womenangels #womenangelsofthenorth

I'm happy to be speaking on the panel at the Lifted Ventures Women's Angels Conference in September. Lifted Ventures are supporting female founders. I heard a shocking stat from KPMG this morning: only 1% of Series A funding goes to businesses with female founders. Let's redress the balance.

It is also for women living and working anywhere across the UK who are eager to support Northern female founders. A supportive post from Oliver Yonchev celebrating UK startups. I used to hear people saying ‘It’s hard running a startup’ - and I can confirm - it can be! Thanks to KPMG for providing the Tech Innovator platform. We are looking forward to the global final in Lisbon.
I had the privilege of sharing at the KMPG Tech Innovator Awards last night. Events like this remind me how many truly ground breaking startups are born in the UK. These are teams who decide to take on the big challenges, complex problems, and they walk a very difficult path. I’m glad these people exist. Being honest, operating across healthcare, manufacturing, energy, science, etc, many don’t get the public credit they deserve. Which makes platforms like this, even more essential. Well done to all the KPMG teams involved, and thank you for what you’re doing for the startup community. Of course a special congratulations to Henrietta Boyd who was crowed a very worthy winner who will represent the UK on the world stage. And to the runners up and People Choice winner Timothy Pryce, Justin Hughes and Jonathan Kwok. I left the evening very inspired (thank you Jill Hilton) 👏
