Over the weekend I gave a workshop for the HackViolet VT hackathon teaching students how to build an AI weatherman. The premise was to show them something cool built with minimal code using APIs to power it... Basically, you don't have to build a weather station to get weather data. If you'd like to see it I've put it up on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dkXx4SYP #AI #generativeai #Hackathon

I had an amazing time representing Peraton at HackViolet VT, a hackathon that encourages individuals to become change agents for the gender gap in technology at Virginia Tech. Peraton proudly supports and empowers women in STEAM and was grateful to serve as a challenge sponsor and resource throughout the competition. We were impressed by the over 340 participants' creativity and brilliance and were thrilled to present our prize to team "Rhythm & Rise," who developed a web app offering nutrition and exercise recommendations tailored to the menstrual cycle phases. A massive shoutout and heartfelt thanks to: •Brett for sharing Peraton's internship and Co-Op opportunities with participants •Kelly & Olivia for leading our Rapid Web Application Development with React tech talk •Kristen for sharing her experience as a woman in tech during the company panel •Kelly & Brandyn for their diligent judging of the final projects •Greg for closing out our challenges & presenting our winners •Brandyn for skillfully managing the Discord Channel • Linwood, Lillian, Bridget, and Mary for generously guiding the students throughout the event Your dedication made a world of difference! #peraton #dothecantbedone #womeninstem #Hackviolet #virginiatech
