  • We love hearing from our patients, especially after they've received exceptional and compassionate care from our team. The following are sentiments that a recent patient shared about Joseph Mulinge, 4 South Nursing. "Joseph, I write with the most sincere gratitude that I can possibly offer to a medical professional, or for that matter, human being. The past 72 hours or so have been amongst the most frightening of my life, not only because of the potential loss of my own life, but this would make my beloved wife a widow. She means more to me than anything else on this earth. Your care during my stay here has been nothing short of extraordinary, competent, and friendly with a peerless bedside manner. You have been an advocate and coach, treating me not just as a patient, but as a person. I hope that I don’t have to see you again anytime soon, but if I do, I know I will be received by a friend and top professional. Thank you for your care and attention!" Job well done Joseph! We're thrilled you're a part of the GW Family! #GWProud

  • As you are probably aware, Crowdstrike, a Microsoft vendor, pushed a software update last night that had a technical error. This has had a worldwide impact as reported in the media. While things may take a little more time than usual, George Washington University Hospital is open and remains operational! This is not a cyberattack but a coding error by the IT vendor. The vendor has pushed out a patch which is currently being implemented in all systems. Our teams are actively working to resolve the issues, we apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

  • We are thrilled to share that for the second consecutive year that George Washington University Hospital has been recognized as a Best Regional Hospital by U.S News and World Report. GW Hospital ranks 4th in the region, which includes hospitals in D.C. and parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. To be ranked as a Best Regional Hospital, a hospital or healthcare system has to outperform its peers in procedures and conditions that U.S. News & World Report evaluates, including risk-adjusted survival, patient experience, level of nursing care and successfully returning patients home following discharge. "As an academic medical center, our multidisciplinary care teams are dedicated to outstanding clinical excellence, research, and education in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. This recognition by U.S. News & World Report, which places us within the top hospitals in the region, is a testament to the range of advanced services we offer and the expertise, specialized skills, and commitment of our entire care team," shared Kimberly Russo, Chief Executive Officer of The George Washington University Hospital and UHS Group Vice President of the Washington, D.C. Region. Thank you to all of our team members who helped make this remarkable achievement possible! #BestHospitals
