For the second year, Grubhub partnered with FutureReady, a 6 week micro-internship initiative to promote tech job pathways for high school students from populations historically under-represented in tech. Through this program, created jointly with Tech:NYC and the NYC Dept of Education, we welcomed a class of high school students from the Food and Finance High School to the Grubhub team. Specific to Grubhub, students were tasked with designing a fictional restaurant that would be successful on Grubhub by leveraging anonymized food and menu data from their neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen. To close out their internship, students presented their restaurants and showcased their findings to members of the team in our New York Office. Thank you to all of the students who joined us this spring and to our Grubhub volunteers led by Jordan (Lardieri) Reagen. The volunteer team included Daniel RogalskiMelissa M.Michelle KoufopoulosMayank SinghAmy Martinez (Weber), and Melissa C.! And special thanks to Chef billy doherty, Chef at FFHS, and Bryan Lozano, Director of the Tech:NYC Foundation.

Our team was busy at the Food on Demand Conference in Las Vegas last week! Steve Puchala, Grubhub’s Senior Vice President of Restaurants, spoke about the state of the third-party delivery industry, as well as Grubhub’s strategy behind its expansion into new verticals, including grocery and convenience. Kristin Howe Cole, Director of Client Success, spoke on a panel focused on automation in the food delivery industry. She shared insights into Grubhub’s Campus business that boasts more than 300 university partners — specifically how and why we utilize robot delivery on campuses across the country. To close out the week, we invited some of our restaurant partners to an event at Topgolf to connect with our leadership team, socialize with other industry leaders and show our appreciation for their continued partnership. See you next year!

Grubhub is committed to supporting independent restaurants with the necessary resources to sustain and grow their businesses. Our latest effort to support restaurants is an initiative with The Greg Hill Foundation’s Restaurant Strong Fund, where we will provide $500,000 in grant opportunities to help NYC-based restaurants lower their carbon emissions with updated equipment. Made possible by the Grubhub Community Fund, these grants are designed to help lighten the financial load for restaurants as they make necessary operational updates, supporting both recent and upcoming upgrades to kitchen equipment, with a particular focus on coal- and wood-burning ovens. Applications for qualifying NYC restaurants are open until May 31, 2024 – apply today: https://lnkd.in/gPdTsbjb
